The mumbling slowly grew louder and Fort's eyes opened. Mumble mumble mumble
"Tan 's that you?" she slurred.

Some warming tea was poured down Fort's throat without a word.

"Thanks," she continued. "Thought my throat was going to split open."
Central peered over curiously. "Is that a leech stuck to her wing?"

As her mother slept, Furychick peeked out from under her soft white wing feathers and looked around curiously as she had done the day before. Where am I? she pondered, still confused about the events that had surronded the previous day. The young chick yawned before prying herself from her broody's warm embrace, stretching out her tiny charcoal toned wings, and creeping out of the dank cave and into the moonlit night. Furychick looked down at the flooded lands below herself and gasped, stumbling onto her backside in fear, causing small pebbles beside her to tumble off the rocky hill and into the water. She stared down at the sight in awe. It wasn't the water that surprised her however, but the lifeless body of a chick floating within it.

"mhhm, possibly." Clucked Tan, pouring salt water on it to kill it.

Fort watched it slowly peel off her wing. "How disgusting," she murmured.

"I'm feeling a bit woozy," she admitted. "But fine other than that. The tea was good for whatever those peebles did to my throat."

Fort dribbled a little bit as she drank, the salt irritating her throat.
Central was bringing the berries out of her sack. "I suppose we could crush these somehow."
