As her mother approached Tan with Free and Gem, Redfern hopped to the ground unnoticed and approached the group of eyes fearlessly. "I can see you," she cheeped.

"Look, now there's two groups of them..." central's confidence was starting to catch up with her. Perhaps she shouldn't have been so sure of her abilities... "Well, perhaps these guys can help us. let's go introduce ourselves. One's hurt, they won't attack us."

Tan met with them halfway there. "Hello." She clucked, firmly but politely.

Oops, sorry Spaz, didn't see this.

"Hi," Central stood forward. "We're after those guys that ran into the camp a while ago. Are you with them?" She immediately felt she'd put her foot in her mouth again, but it was too late to go back. Crap, what if they actually are?

"What camp? What guys? There where other chickens around here before the earthquake?"

Brazen, deciding it would be pointless to hide any longer, stepped out of the shadows and into the filtered sunlight. The stout Cornish rooster smiled warmly. "Well, you caught us," he chuckled, his voice suprisingly welcoming rather than hostile. "We were just patrolling. No worries."

"There were a group here before the earthquake. I was part of the clan, but a lot of my friends were killed, and the food store crushed. I spotted a group of intruders from the trees, they headed that way." She pointed in the direction where Birdy's clan was hiding. "Did you see them?"

Redfern smiled. "Hello. My name is Redfern." She hadn't the foggiest what patrolling was, but he sounded friendly. A bit like her daddy had been before he was killed in the quake.

"Nope" Clucked Tan, not wanting to be in the middle of what might be a clan war.

"Well, seeing as you don't appear to pose any danger..." Central looked at her companions. "Let's keep going. We think they might be dangerous. You can join us if you want."

Fort peeked out from under the bush.

"Pleasure meeting you, Redfern," he bowed slightly to the chick. Barleytail sighed heavily and leaned against a tree, impatiently awaiting what seemed to her incessant chatter to end. Brazen simpered. "I suppose we should be leaving now." he said, "Our leader is expecting us."

"Farewell!" Starfire called over her shoulder with a smile. Barley had already vanished without a word.
