Hi! How are things on your end lately, Gerbil?
Not good, but I'll live.
My favorite Silkie girl bopped her head a few days ago and I almost lost her, brain swelling. She lost all control of her legs, neck and wings for days and I was going to do her in and then BOOM, she was standing. But sadly I believe there was a little permanent damage and I have her under surveillance.
I am getting out of Silkies, minus Puddles and Dory, I'm going to sell my little flock.
I don't know if I'll start over with another breed, we'll see.
On the other hand, my new room is coming along, work is going smoothly and I'm making enough to actually get started on a few projects I have been delaying!
Yourself?
I g2g for a second, the naan ain't gonna make itself!
So sorry about your Silkie! Head injuries can be so dangerous. I've dealt with a lot of those at the rescue and often the prognosis is bad; either being permanent damage, death, or sometimes, a complete turnaround, which is always such a relief. It's definitely a good idea to keep an eye on her. Make sure that she gets enough vitamin C and electrolytes. Vitamin C will promote her recovery and electrolytes will give her a boost.
Everything is for the most part fine on my end. Jade has matured over time to be a jerk and has drawn blood with her bites. She has been so mean and it's breaking my heart to love her, yet not like her! She is constantly nipping toes and fingers, and she is flat out vicious at night. She only lets me pick her up, and that's nice and all, but if the rest of the family tries, she will lunge and chomp down, and HARD; on their hand.
It's looking like she is going to be stuck in an aviary instead of being a family pet like my little Sunshine. She is little better as far as tameness than the finches! And I raised her from a chick, too; I'm shocked!
