"You brought them here?" Silver gaped at the eagle chicks. "I was hoping their father would follow us!" One of the chicks tripped over its own feet to get over to Silver, and she helped him to his feet, ruffling his downy feathers, which were just starting to form adult pin feathers. "You've been feeding them too much," she winked, escorting the plump chick back to Midnightgem.

Silver nodded sadly. "I can understand wanting to move them." She hid a smile as she saw Midnightgem fluffed into a typical broody stance, and thought that the chicks couldn't have done better than to choose her as their new mother.

"Anything you need, Middy, just say so!" Pointing to a glade that was starting to be formed into the camp, she continued: "We have a few temporary dens in the thick grass, if you need the chicks to rest."

Lionchick fluffed up and then ran over to the eagle chicks again and peeped happily at them.

"Hey, Lionchick!" Silver smiled, and indicated Jo the eagle. "Would you like a mission for the clan?" She puffed up with importance. "If you would like to do the favor, look after Jo so that Middy can get some rest."

(Zinnia, when do you want us to mount a rescue operation for Thorntalon?)
