Legs weak, Silver rose to her feet, staring awestruck at Blackthorn. "Yes, I . . I want her back. All of Wingclan does."
"Wingclan . . .," Blackthorn seemed to be tasting the new name, rolling around in his mouth thoughtfully. "I saw your group set up shop, and that you would be the easiest to negotiate with. Those roosters looked like they'd rather rip my throat out than give me a hearing."
Silver's eyes narrowed at his summation of her beloved clanmates. "And what, exactly, is in this proposal for you? I know you are not aquainted with Thorntalon, and you most certainly are not working for Daggerbeak. Who are you?"
"I knew you wouldn't trust me," he nodded, grey eyes flashing calmly, almost pityingly. "And I'm not asking you to give me an ounce of trust. All you need to realize is that I have a bone to pick with Daggerbeak, and I thought I'd stretch the offer to accomplish some good. I get you in, you get Thorntalon out, I do my business. Everybody wins."
