Our power went out yesterday and the heat lamp was off for about an hr. Didn’t think about it wile dealing with other things. By the time we found them most of the chicks were not moving. Brought them in the house got them warmed up and they started moving eating and drinking. 3 did pass away. But now I am noticing the right wing on 3 chicks are swollen... one is bad the rest is just a little? Any thoughts? All eating, drinking and pooping

Hello. I well try to get a pic today. North west Mo. temp is around 38 degrees the day it started. Now around 50 to 60. They came from a local woman who hatched them herself.

I don’t know what would have caused that, but could they have started panicking and pecked or hurt each other? So sorry about your power outtage and the deaths. That is very sad. Hopefully, the wings will get better with time, and that all of the remaining chicks survive. I usually keep my baby chicks in the house for 2-3 weeks, but it is very dusty. But I am always paranoid about lights burning out or waterers getting knocked over.

Yes it was 3 now just one. They are all in the house for now. Still doing ok. We had one more pass away not sure why. But they all have plenty of energy and moving around now. The one with the bad wing is still not doing great.
