Hello, wanted advice on what to do with my chickens in the winter. If I leave them in there coop where it sits now I would have to run a extension cord from my sons window (which is right above coop) to be able to have a heat lamp in there for them but am not very comfortable doing that..so we are thinking about getting a outdoor dog kennel to keep in our garage to use as a “winter coop” plus I can have a heat lamp plugged in no problem being that we have electricity in there.
Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Adult hens won’t need a heat lamp, so you’re fine!
However they’re laying will slow down due to cold weather.
I suggest you put some straw inside to keep the heat in, and use he deep litter method. Hens also provide heat for each other.
Thanks for the advice really appreciate it. I’m just a little nervous because there only 11-12 weeks old and we only have a few months left before winter.
