As long as you ducks are fully feathered they don't need any supplemental heat. Pine having acne be hard on ducks feet too, but @KaleIAm can explain that if she wants. I have also heard that star and hay is a better insulator? I don't know for sure if that is true or not but it os great for keeping warm in the winter months.
