Winter and Summer Watering system w/ waterer nipples and heater.

I like the waterer design. Getting ready to build a winter waterer using a birdbath heater as well. Got the nipples and pvc pipe. keep us updated on any issues or successes and i'll do the same. Good luck

I will, I'm slightly concerned that the ends may freeze, but we'll just have to see. I suppose its fine even if they do, as long as it doesn't expand and crack something. My hope is that as long as the middle is water, the ice can expand towards the water and not break anything.

You could also use some small "cookie tin" type heaters underneath the nipples.

As Spud Chicken said, that's the most likely part to freeze first

It would be a good idea to wrap the pipe in foam insulation to prevent heat loss and wrap that in black electrical tape to protect against chickens.
