Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
I'm getting an order of 4 chicks from MPC (My Pet Chicken) that hatch tomorrow, 11/28, but unfortunately that is the last date that they allow orders under 15 until the end of March....
You could try to order tonight if you're not super picky on breeds-they have 6-7 breeds available for the hatch tomorrow.
I wanted winter birds so they would be close to laying by spring. They're eventually going into a coop with 3 full size hens so I was already planning to keep them indoors/in the garage for longer than I normally would so they can grow big enough to defend themselves from the others.
