Winter gardening, and how to beat Gardener's Winter Blues

I just harvested all my salad greens, swiss chard, and arugula for the year. Was planning on closing beds for the season after placing some compost till next spring. You guys may have inspired me to try a little garlic over the winter and see what happens.

I have a few things still going in greenhouse kale, green peppers, tomatoes, some herbs, and hot chili peppers.

Cabbage, Swiss chard, curly kale, and several types of lettuce are doing well in the fall/winter garden. The herbs are also thriving. -planting the chilled flower bulbs for spring in the next day or two. We have fairly mild winters, so gardening is pretty much a year long process here.

Lovely greens!!
I sort of accidently have winter garlic and onion growing. I actually picked up a box of sets/bulbs at the grocery store in the spring and followed the planting instructions then. But they got trappled and seemed to me to die. But lo and behold, they are coming up now. Yay! My parsely is loving the weather and we've had some good frosts, short snow flurry today. This is my first parsely planting so I am a newbie. Zone 6 here, so fall and winter take up half the year. Love the inspiration!! Keep it coming, up here 90% of green leaves have fallen, but grass is emerald green so its not so dreary quite yet.

I have never tried garlic (other than perennial flowering society garlic in the perennial beds for summer color). I need to plant some!
Parsley is growing like mad here, too! -very easy to grow!
We pretty much have the following seasons, here: warm, scorching, warm, and cool. Summer crops are really difficult due to the excessive and prolonged heat. (have to have afternoon shade on the garden) Fall/winter are good growing times!
