Yes onions are very hard!
I have had no luck. One sprouted so we shell see.
I usually plant onion sets instead of seeds. I have a lot more luck with those.

Onion seeds are said to be viable for only about a year, so if your seed is old, that could be the reason for your poor germination rate.

I just go new seeds, so hopefully something!
 
Woooow! These are amazing! I am praying for some flowers like yours. In fact I think I planted some of the same types as you have there. What an incredible sunflower!
That sunflower grew 14' tall.
I will pray you plants and flowers bloom as beautiful as mine!

I didn’t know that. Thanks for sharing. That is probably part of my problem.

What variety was it? Did you roast and eat the seeds?
I save the seeds since I plan to plant a field of them for our bees.

I have been planting them for so long I just use the seeds I have got from the past years.
So Im not sure what variety it is. I'm thinking American giant .
