Winter "Greens" - Rabbit pellets for chicks??

After Thanksgiving and Christmas, I usually pick up sweet potatoes on the cheap. I microwave or toss in the oven if I happen to be using it to bake them. I just cut into halves or quarters and give to them.

Good heavens... I swear someday God is going to give us a famine for the food we waste in this country....

I have a Kwik Trip that will sell over-ripe bananas for 10cents a lb. My chicks will commit murder for bananas!

I will buy spinach when it is on sale, or melon or zuchini.... no real prep.... I just cut it into several chunks and spread them out so that no one gets trampled!

In the fall, I snapped up everyone's ground apples, leftover cucumbers, zuchini, etc. and threw them in the basement. Birds love it!

Also tomatoes; although that will look like a massacre in the coop!

I wait for the grocer to have sales on frozen veggies.... I just let them thaw and dump them in the coop.

The girls will eat potato peels, carrot peels, apple peels, etc. If they are laying and you are not eating them all, boil them, and mash them shells and all. they will go NUTS!

The reason why they cannot sell it or give it away should be obvious. Poor or homeless people would get the cheap or free "bad" foods and end up sick. They could get seriously ill and the chain could get in serious trouble.

Today I offered them some alfalfa sprouts (bought at the store) and they were totally not into them!
