Winter is here, Is your egg count going down or up ??? How much ??

some of mine are molting and the most i get a day is 4 the day before yesterday i got 1 just ONE. and i think the rest are almost ready to molt their a little over 9 months now. i went from atleast 9 eggs a day to sometimes none ugh.

I have 7 chickens, 3 are molting (no eggs from them), the other 3 have also stopped laying, and the only one I'm still getting eggs from is my blind chicken. I think she can't tell the days are getting shorter. She also should have molted this year and hasn't yet.

Last year the molters didn't start laying again until Feb or March (if I remember correctly). So I think I'm done for the season. I might start adding a light in Jan or Feb, but I do like them to take a break, especially after the extreme molt this year (naked chickens).

I'm very proud of my girls.

I give them consistant layer feed, water and about 2 1/2 hrs extra light of the morning and they treat me well.

Going up! I have 28 pullets and all are laying except the 4 EE's which haven't started yet. They are 23 wks. I'm averaging 20/day out of the 24 who are currently laying.

4out of 12 orpingtons, went down hill when we got a couple cold nights and the light of day change. Havent seen an egg from my spitzhauben in about 3 weeks. But I think they have a secret nest along with 2 of my faverolles. one faverolle lays every other day where shes supposed to. I think I'll leave the wooden egg in there again.
