I have AC to my coops but I have electric wires around my coops and pens. I have 1 watt LCD lights in all of my coops that give off light equivalent to a 11 watt incandescent bulb. I never shut them off. I have had them for years. Some breeds of birds are better layers than others. I use shop clamp lamps for the bulbs.
