Winter nutrition?

Mine have nibbled it only because I am thinking I use the 2 sided containers from the feed store one has grit the other Oyster shell I don't think Clint will keep on eating unless like FoodForFreedom says he is looking for grit.

Hmm that's possible, they don't have grit out I knew other birds ate it but I didn't realize ducks did as well. I'll hold off on the oyster shell until she starts laying then and I'll see about getting them some grit I guess too. I've got the ff going it's kinda smelly lol I've got about 8 cups water to 2 cups feed currently, it kept fluffing up and seemed like it needed more water. I didn't have a cover for it so I put a hand towel over the top not sure if that's right or not.

I didn't see your adding ACV go by this and adjust to accommodate 2 ducks. I make up enough FF for 2 days you'll figure it out over time main reason I only do 2 days at a time is I don't have room in my house for more than 1 bucket. ACV helps with fermentation and also will help keep mold from forming.I am feeding 34 birds.I use a 3 gallon bucket filled 3/4 full of feed/grains then use 3/4 cup of ACV added to a 1 gal of hot water pour over and mix it swells as it adsorbs the water sometimes i add a little more hot water once I have it mixed but mine don't like their ff wet just moist. They like to make it wet on their own lol

Okay so I have updated this now, I have eight cups water to five cups of feed and a third of ACV. I picked em up some grit so they'll have that and I'm just going to wait for now on the oyster shells. I thin kI might've put a bit much water in but we'll see where it goes. lol

You can always remedy too much water by just adding a bit more feed till you have the consistency where you want it.

X2 - and slightly soupy is usually a hit with the ducks.

Well i'm going to be feeding out the ff in the morning, I never really saw it start to bubble though. It does smell kinda sour like I was told it would. I put some grit out and it was a bigger hit with Clint he was awfully pleased :) I'll see how they take to their mushy mash in the morning fingers crossed!

Next time put the grit in a bowel separate from the ff. You don't want them filling up on too much grit. And they will use the grit as they need it just like the oyster shell.

Mine doesn't bubble either but smells yeasty.
