I’ve been using composted bedding after plowing a single path with my tractor during the winter to give the chickens more outside time and area.

Any other ideas to give chickens more outside time in run during winter?

Depends on where you are at--it is snow and frigid, cold and rainy, etc? A covered run area that is safe from the elements works the best, but if you can give them some areas to shelter themselves, for the most part they should be ok out in the open. I mean below 0 temps and straight-line winds isn't good for any animal or person, and they would probably choose to stay inside anyway (if there is enough room) but if it is 20s and mild they might get used to the snow/mud and just be chickens.

I have a covered run that has plastic wrapped around it, so my ladies never have to encounter the snow or strong winds, just the cold.

Your plow tractor fits into your run?!
Pics Please?

Just how often do you have to plow?
What does that do to the existing bedding?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
