I am sure this has been talked about over and over. I did a search but most are for chickens. Right now I use a bucket upside down in a big metal bowl (pic below). I did buy a heated dog dish, but with 8 ducks I know they would go through it way to fast & unsure how to keep them out of it. What is the best thing you have used?

We are in NH where it gets crazy cold. I plan to just put out big containers of warm water twice a day, with no food or water overnight.

Easiest and cheapest.

Nope. It takes about 6 hrs for a 3 gal bucket of warm water to freeze, and that's if nobody is moving the water around by sticking their head in, so if you are just able to go out a couple of times a day, they'll be fine.

I was thinking about wrapping heating tape around the bottom bowl. But would that keep the water in the bucket warm enough not to freeze?
