Winter water

Get a bird bath de-icer that you can put directly in the water. I just did that and it works great. Before waterer, nipples were frozen on my waterer water was icy. After, no icy water no frozen nipples. It works great just make sure you get one you can put in the water and is safe in a plastic bucket. Mine is and says it is good for containers of 25 gallons or less. Check here http://www.alliedprecision.com/

Thats good to know - i wondered if a de-icer in a nipple bucket would keep the nipples from freezing. How cold have you seen that setup work?

We got down into the 20's a couple of nights so far so good. We don't get excessively cold here but I am looking forward (as much as I hate to say it) to a long cold spell to see how it works. I think it will work fine the heater sits on the inside of the base of the bucket. We'll see soon enough.
