Unless the tarp is supported by a roof system, it will collapse with the first heavy overnight snow. I had a green house tarp with a nice peak. In spite of the peak, the tarp would form a hammock with the snow building up in the hammock. It would get so heavy that I could barely move the snow off. Hubby then built an elevated truss system which does much better at helping the tarp to stand up to the snow load, and keeps the tarp from slinging. The remainder of my winter run is covered with 2 x 4 welded wire mesh. I still have to knock the snow off that! For 8 birds, I strongly recommend a minimum of 4 x 8 foot print in the coop.
