I plan to use foam board insulation inside my coop, but because I know the birds will pick at it I will be covering it with empty feed bags by stapling it to the boards. Does this sound like a decent idea?
I want to do the boards so that they can be removed in the summer.
 
Yep, dont nees it but if you do the plan you have sounds good. I would just make sure there are no strings on the bags or tears that they can rip off pieces and you should be good.
This! I had a bird get a string wrapped around the back of her tongue and tighten.. got it out in time thankfully. It was from a feed bag in the garage. Be vigilant
 
There's really no point to adding insulation to a chicken coop if you have adequate ventilation. We don't need to keep them warm, we just keep them dry and out of the wind and they keep themselves warm with their built-in down parkas. :)

Wow! Thank you so much. I try to be very careful with stuff like that. If I go with my plan, I'll be sure to make sure all strings are off.
