Hey all!
So my kiddos are going through molt, looking so ugly but getting all those summer feathers off and getting ready for the winter! I am converting their hutch into an outdoor winter one. We live where it can get -23F but I am keeping them in the garage to alleviate the drafts and here is my plan! Tell me what could be adjusted or bettered!
-I’m boarding up the sides of the hutch and adding insulation, and wiring a section of the top to have some light and air come thrpufh
-I purchased a chicken heated pad to install in their usual nesting spot, to keep them warm. It’s meant for young animals so they shouldn’t get too hot
-I’m making their bedding mostly Pine and dirt, and I’m going to have large clumps of hay for them to nest in
-adding a heated waterer, can’t find any good ones yet so shoot me ideas!
Let me know good ways to keep them safe and happy in the winter!
