Wire mesh for duck run

Hi everyone

we are building our duck run and have bought 1/2” hardware cloth to cover all around.

I don’t think is is sufficient to keep mice out..? My question is what size mesh should I get to keep mice out and also how far up should this mesh go on the side of the coop (overlapping the 1/2” mesh) and how deep should it go into the ground?

Not many mice can get thru 1/2".

It would have to go all the way up the because mice are great climbers.

1/4" will keep mice out. 1/2" should keep most mice out, with the caveat that some tinier ones could possibly squeeze through.

@aart @rosemarythyme thanks for your replies. I have searched high and low for 1/4 inch hardware cloth and I just can’t find any :-( and then much to my dismay I opened up the 1/2” mesh I bought last week only to discover I accidentally bought chicken wire instead hardware cloth
