I'm looking for a recommendation on a wireless remote thermometer so I can see the coop temperature from inside the house. The coop is about 500 ft from the house. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm using an Acu Rite outdoor indoor remote. The temp is pretty accurate but the remote humidity has been way off from the start. Those are at Lowe's, HD and other places.
Here is a humidor remote system that is very accurate for humidity and temp is close enough for coop monitoring. It has a base unit and can accommodate up to 3 remote units.

Thank you! I’ve ordered an Acu rite. It looks like the range is going to be close.

I’m mostly interested in the temperature reading. Not sure I’d know what to do with humidity readings. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. Not 100% sure it’ll even work as the coop is at the max of the quoted range.

I find humidity to be more important than temperature.
The temperature will be within a couple degrees of the exterior temperature that you can get from the Weather Channel, Accuweather or your local forecast.
If the humidity in the coop is much higher than that reported for your zip code, the danger of frostbite is heightened significantly.
You'd be surprised how respiration and feces can raise humidity in an enclosed space.
With adequate ventilation and dry air, cold air isn't really a problem with most breeds of chickens.

I ordered the AcuRite 02081M Weather station from Amazon for inside the coop.

I do have a Davis instruments weather station elsewhere, so it will be easy for me to calibrate.

I want the data for inside the coop so I can judge my construction and the increase in temperature inside the coop from waste, body temp and respiration. Right now - I'm planning on having 8 chickens in the coop through the winter - but want to know if there should be more / less in the future - understanding that behavior of the flock will be a determining factor. (the coop is 48 [ft] - 6 [ft] per chicken with 8)

Add considerable dry bedding to the floor of the coop. Once a week, throw scratch on top of the bedding. They will dig and break up clumps, and help dry it out.

Dry and out of the wind is what you want, not temperature. I too, worried about temperature at first, but later on, I learned, much healthier with good ventilation, dry and out of the wind.

Do make sure that when they are roosted up, there is clearance over their heads. I like a foot of air space above their heads.

Thank you. I believe they will have plenty of ventilation. I am working on posting my coop. But I've gable vents, and soffit vents. and windows that can open oto cross vent if I need to release some moisture during the day when they're in the run.
The temp is really more for my own curiosity. I'm not really worried about the chickens - just want to see how much warmer they make it above the ambient temp outdoors
