Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just got done catching up on my reading. I've been so busy with my baby duck, I haven't had time to post! She sure is a cutie, BL4! She has irredescent green on her head, and irredescent blue wing bars. WOW! I took her strawberry picking with me the other day and she sure was a hit with the kids who thought she was just "there." Were they surprised when I picked her up and let them pet her.

CC, can I join the blind in one eye club, too? I'm slowing losing the vision in that eye and hope it will be so gradual, that it will be easier to get used to it. And glad to hear your hen is better. I was worried for you.

Deb, that MRI will get you a better picture of what's there and hopefully they'll have good news for you and your DH.

Went antiqueing this afternoon with DS and his girlfriend and I saw so many things with chickens on them. I kept thinking "WHite elephant" for next year! Cute stuff.

Hope people are getting some of the rain they need. We just had a sprinkle this morning after some last night, but not quite enough.

Cheerio!

I found CALL DUCKS! Whoohoo!! I am off to pick them up as soon as my kids head to the barn with their dad!

So super duper excited. I have been scowering the internet all afternoon in hopes of finding some and BOOM the ad shows up on MWT. Called the guy like 5 mins after he posted it. LOL

Thanks for the well wishes for Dottie. She still isn't 100% yet, but she has improved greatly. Everyone has been so nice with their positive thoughts for her. I really appreciate it.

And I really hope your vision loss is extremely gradual also. It takes some getting used to.

Sounds like you've got bash fever bad. Me too! I wonder how many people will be able to make it next year? It still would be nice to have one a little more south in the fall, but the question would be where. Would the "northerners" want to come, and would you want to stay the night? Then at least we could narrow it down to a campground.

But fall can be pretty hectic too, with back to school & harvesting/canning & such. Oh, well....... Just thinking out loud. Don't mind me. I seldom do.

Yep, I agree that your onboard shanti for the

wonderful!

Life does get in the way come fall around here...Might be having surgery in Aug, Don't know yet....but maybe that would be good for not being able to do anything except visit? I can do nothing with the best, you know!

Feel bad for my broody brahama that i didn't give any eggs...she was broody for 2 months....need more housing for sure!

Well, last night I noticed that is was getting pretty hot here in the house even with the air conditioning on. Went downstairs and the condenser is all cold and wet, probably froze up !! DH, in addition to tilling day and night has the sprinkler running 24/7 lately. Well the cold water pipes are dripping and the basement is getting real humid, which is probably the reason the condenser froze up don't ya think?
hu.gif
Sure hope that is the reason, don't want to have to have someone over, who knows how much that would run
barnie.gif
If it ain't one thing it is a coule of a dozen on another !!!

So of course I didn't get my brooders cleaned out while the air was working !!! So just taking a break from doing that and then it is SHOWER TIME !!!

Oh an while I"m at is. Is there anyway to change the order in which your posts show up. What I mean is when I go the cheesehead thread it starts out from the beginning. Then I have to click on the page ie 135 if that is the last page. Then I have to click on END to go to the bottom post which is easier then scrolling down from the top.

Not that I'm lazy or anything !!!

good afternoon, Ken is the proud owner of two peacocks.. One a couple of days old and one a 1 1/2 year old peacock..

I didn't reallize there were so many of us one eyed wonders here..

It is really easy to add windows to a garage.. Maybe you can find some narrow ones that will fit between the studs.. Menard's and many other places have combination storms that can be framed in like a window.. then you have screens on them also..

had a couple stop and take a look at my pullets.. they bought a 10x16 foot coop and are having it moved to their place this week..then they are coming back for 5 pullets.. she is a prime candidate for chicken math.. she started out with a donkey and now she has 30 of them and 4 carts.. LOL sound like anybody we know?

Brian picked up his peachicks today.. He said he was surprised that any of them hatched.. My hunch was correct, the people he got the eggs from did not take real good care of them..

It is getting cool enough to do something outside now, but there is not enough time to really get into anything major.. I will get up early in the morning and get that hay spread.

Just bring it on,,,, I'll prolly qualify for most of it..

reminds me of the time I was riding along with my two friends, Hank and Dave.. I made the observation that combining the 3 of us and our malidies, they couldn't come up with enough good parts to put together one good man.. LOL

Hey everyone,

So I have a lady coming Wednesday to buy 10 chicks. She is for sure taking the 2 Buff Brahmas, 2 Salmon Faverolles, and the mystery splash chick. Then the other 5 she will pick when she gets here.

We had a bad night at our house last night. We had just bought our 6 month old Beagle puppy a new collar and let her outside on her cable around midnight to go to the bathroom. When I went to let her back in the house she was gone. She slipped out of the collar and got out of a hole in the fence. We hoped someone found her and would bring her back but no luck. We called the local vets, shelter, and police and nothing. We were told that chances are she won't be back because most of the time young small breed dogs without collars don't get returned because people find them and keep them.

She was my 2 year olds dog and she is heart broken. I don't know what to do if she doesn't come back. It's too close to my due date to try to get a new puppy and potty train it before the baby arrives and the shelters here are really picky and refuse to adopt us a dog unless we bring our giant male in for a meet and greet. The problem with a meet and greet is that our male is VERY dominant and takes a while to warm up to new dogs. Also they wouldn't even be by each other because he is strictly an outside dog in our backyard and the new dog would be an indoor dog and get let outside in the front yard to use the bathroom until they adjusted to each other. I have been looking on Craigslist just in case the puppy doesn't come back but I can't seem to find a dog that fits our family and I think some of the people are insane for the prices they are asking. They want hundreds of dollars for an adult dog that has no shots, and isn't fixed. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that our puppy comes back but if she doesn't we will be looking for an adult dog that is fixed, housebroken, and good with young children. If anyone finds a dog that might fit within driving distance of Manitowoc please let me know.
