Shanti- congrats on the impending wedding, I bet you are proud
I checked the chickens, they are all panting. I gave them 2 waterers filled with cold water and they went in the coop to get out of the sun.
according to noaa we have a heat index of 101. poor birds.
hope eveyone's birds pull through.

Afternoon All... Thanks for sharing all the stuff going on!

Yep, a pretty much summer of recovery Jim. The next surgery is to remove the saline oil and replace just saline (or whatever) for clear vision. The Doctor also thinks it's best to lazer my other eye to prevent a detached problem there....I won't bore you with % 's but sounds like insurance to me.

To bad raim and bl4...Tough for sure.

oto...maybe buy a cheap tarp and hang by the groments and roll up when not needed. the pen needs shade for the girls. the coop is prolly way to warm to look for shade.

just a little time before the rotissarie chicken gets done..

had some company for awhile this afternoon.. My nephew and his Norwegian girl friend..

I went out and literally pushed the new chickens out of the guinea pen.. they just didn't get the idea that it was OK for them to go through that big open door.. I had to close the door so they wouldn't sneak back in.. It is cooler outside than it is inside.. a few of them learned real fast how to dig a hole in the dirt to cool off.. I suppose I will have to push them into the coop tonight..

Dr H.. in the two story house that I grew up in, we had one recepticle in the whole upstairs.. My dad had an electric cord strung from the ceiling light to his alarm clock.. He rigged up a string from his headboard to the pull chain on the light so he didn't have to get out of bed to turn on his light..

I always hated to work on those old recpts.. those old time electricians didn't leave enough wire slack to even allow you to pull the recpt out of the wall.. I guess they figured that a recpt would never go bad..

BBP. I never heard that mink were imported for fur.. from where? When ? Inquiring minds want to know..

Hi everyone,

So the new dog is doing great. We all adore him. I lost 2 of my Muscovy ducklings. One I found dead yesterday, I'm not sure what happened to it. The other I found dead this morning. It jumped into the water last night and must not have been able to get out for some reason. They have never had a problem before. The two that died were younger and from different parents so maybe it was something genetic. They seemed to not grow as fast as the other two and we always very lazy. Who knows. Now we are just down to Ming Ming and Apple. I think they are a boy and girl but I'm not positive. Can they breed if they are brother and sister? I know physically they can but I'm wondering if the ducklings would be messed up because of the genetics.

I still have WAY too many chicks left. I am getting so sick of people setting up times to get them and then not showing up. They are about a week and a half old and growing like weeds. I don't know how I am going to house them all once they get bigger. I've had a big problem with kids/teens e-mailing me and making plans to come buy some and then on pick-up day I find out they aren't adults because they send me an e-mail basically telling me they aren't coming because their parents said no. I think Craigslist should have a rule that if you aren't 18 you can't respond to for sale ads. It's hard to tell through e-mails how old someone is or if they are serious. I just need to sell these extra chicks soon before I run out of space.

GothChick, No shows are a major pain in the posterier.. Nine out of ten responders are no shows.. it is just a fact of craigs list life. I have the habit of treating every responder as if he is a no show,.. I just can't help it.. the ones I really love are the ones who pick the time to show, and then you never even hear from them again..

or how about the ones who respond about chicks, and then you don't hear from them again for a month and a half wondering about the "chicks".. what th he!! ? do they think they stay chicks until they pick them up ?? LOL

Hey, Bigzio, I too am glad to hear you got good news from the eye doc. Hope all goes well with the next surgery. What exactly did they do for the first surgery? I must have missed it?
Sight is something we all take for granted among other things. Sorry it took me so long to reply, well, you know when you reach 50 something !!!

Well, you guys are all going to think I am nuts but here is what I am going to do tomorrow !!!

I am going to go on a long long road trip. 550 miles total.

I bought some electric fencing at the FleetFarm in Antigo that was on Clearance. We finally got it put up when we repaired the fence and it is working great !!! TO I showed it to your DH at the BASH while you were off galavanting with Bigzio. Still want a picture of those waterers by the way, didn't know which one to look at at Premiers site.
Anyway, I am going to 5 different Fleet Farms and picking up all of the fence that they have. It is 75% off. They are discontinuing it.
We have a 20 acre field that I want to fence in so I can use all the fence that I can get at a good price.
So, if you think I am MIA tomorrow or Tues I'm not. I'm just driving all over to the Fleet Farms !!! I don't know if I'll have the stamina to make the drive in one day so I might sleep in a cheap motel (that has Air) tomorrow night !! Good way to get away from it all hey !!!!

Raimel, So sorry to see that you lost a baby call. I was posting at the same time and didn't see your post until now.

Glad the others still have each other !!

Supper time, gotta go !!

Or how about the ones that contact you about guineas, talk to you about incubators and never buy from you !!!

Sound familiar? Guess who that was ??

Although we did keep in touch and I never did set up a time !!!

The ones I hate the most are the ones that call me and talk on the phone for 30mins- 1 hour asking all kinds of questions on how to house them, what food to buy, etc. and then they say they are going to buy everything and get them set-up and call back and they never do. Or I have had a Hmong guy call and it went like this:

(The ad said: female chicks, just hatched, $4 each, many breeds available.)

"Hello, I am calling about chicken ad in paper."

Me: "Yep, we still have some available."

"How much you asking for them?"

Me: "They are $4 each."

"How much do they weigh?"

Me: "Well they just hatched so maybe a few ounces."

"Ok, so can you eat them?"

Me: "I suppose you could but they are pretty tiny."

"Ok well I will come and get the big ones. Where do you live."

Me: "I only have chicks available, not big ones."

"Oh, I don't want the chicks. I will come and buy big ones for eating."

Me: "I don't have big ones."

"Well I will buy the smaller adults then."

Me: "I don't have adults, I only have chicks for sale."

"Oh so you only have chicks?"

Me: "Ummm yea...."

"Ok, I need big ones."

Me: "Well I'm sorry I don't have any."

"Do you know anyone that does?"

Me: "Nope sorry."

"Oh ok. I don't want any then." And he hangs up......
