Good Freakin' hot morning! I had to stay in bad until 8:30...the ceiling fan in there is the best one in the house and it throws A LOT of air. My little table top here on the arm of the couch doesnt do too much for me! I might have to plug in the floor drying one that is waaay loud!
My chickens dont seem to have too much trouble with the heat. I have a fan blowing in the coop and they either stay there or go and lay under the trees. Not too much panting at all. They know how to take it easy I guess...it's us people that still have "stuff to do!" Also remember they never go into air conditioning so it's just the same weather with them. My rabbits I do give a frozen bottle to cool them...they mostly chew off the label and lay on the other side of the cage....

Well I think I will take a stroll outside and see what I can see....BBP--what do you plan to do with that critter? I sure dont think I could kill it, chicken eater or not! Hey Jim--did you get the tooth pulled or what? How come so much pain? Good luck at the dog show H&R's kids! You will do great I am sure! I sure hope it gets a little cooler for your fair.
Do you think "someone" brought the weather with them from Florida? Either that or DH brought it with him from Joplin....he says it's cool here!
Elaine I just LOVE that hen! She actually is one that lets me pet her....she must have been bored at your place!

Actually I have posted a few times but my fingers have done some walking on the keyboard or ??? and the whole thing vanishes into thin air. Shhooooot, just hit something now and other websites pop up !!! Thank G it didn't vanish this time.That's cause I only got this far. It likes to wait til I get a whole page typed then it will vanish !!!

Anyway, so Jimbo, I did inquire about you several times but those were the messages that vanished !!! Maybe it's your fault then ???

So what did the dentist do ??? Are you getting it pulled or what??? Inquiring minds want to know. Don't mean to rub it in or jinks myself but my pain is gone.
They filled another cracked filling, very shallow filling that is two teeth away from the one that didn't respond to the ice cold test and now I can finally chew on that side. It's been 3 years since I could chew comfortably on that side. I had those teeth filled at Marquette dental school before I moved up here. When I complained that I couldn't bit down without pain the student said the filling was to high so he filed it down. Went back, complained, filed it down and same thing. He said it may take a while for the pain to stop. I had to move up here so never went back. The dental school is great if you have the time it takes. The treatment is spread out over months as the student learns, has student breaks, exams etc !!! I have a beatiful gold bridge that cost me half of what it would cost here. I'd go back but you just can't go for one thing. You have to be assigned a student and start from scratch !!!!
So without pain I don't have to make the decision about getting the tooth pulled or capping it !!!

At least for now anyway !!!

Been busy making phone calls to the Amish about getting a Pioneer forecart. So it looks like I will be ordering a brand spanking new one !!!! I'm even going to splurge and get the one with the cargo basket in the back !! Never know what I might want to haul with me or pickup along the way !!! I opted out on the beverage holders. They wanted $17 each. I can always clamp something on. Beside I'm assuming one shouldn't be drinking and driving whether it's a car or horse cart right???
The reason I"ve decided to order new is cause I want brakes. Well, the brake is on the right side. Well my foot that's in the grave is on the right side !!!! So I'd have to reach over with my left foot which may seem like no biggy but I'm a new (buggy) driver and it a 2000 animal decides to run off into the sunset I don't need to be searching, reaching, leaning trying to get to the brake petal. Not like it will actually stop the horses but it will cause a bit of resistance !!
WC I got your PM about the cart, thanks. I like the two seater implement seats !!! One for me and ET !!!

I don't think I would last long on the implement seat !!!! The horse would start off and I'd flip off the backend !!! My luck I won't let go of the reins and alway we'd go

So the amish at Pioneer Cart, in OH are going to move the brake petal as close to the center as they can so I can use it with my left foot. Or ET can stomp on it if thing get out of control

So they will be sending it to an Amish dealer in New Holstein. I'll just go down there to pick it up. Shipping included and NO TAX !!!
Was talking to a guy about driving (horses) and he said those reins are no more then a string to those horses, NICE, real encouraging !!!

OH and ET worked on the tractor to get it running so we could get it on the trailer to get it worked on. Well, the gas line or whatever was all gunked up. So after he was all done (with neighbors help) and a new screen and gasket it seems to be working well enough to maybe get some jobs done around here. May put off an overhaul until next year. That over haul money will buy my cart !!!!!!!

That's pretty gutsy to come after your man right in front of you. Makes you wonder what she does behind your back

glad to see you on the green side of the grass, FT.. the dentist pulled the tooth that was the farthest back on the bottom right of my mouth.. It ws cracked, and it had been filled a couple of times bafore.. there was not enough left of the real tooth to do a root canal.. and after it was out, the dentist said that we did the right thing in pulling it.. He had to split the gum a bit to get hold of the pieces.. hence the recovery pain..

I found out last night that I cannot whistle anymore.. (that's how I "talk" to one of my turkey hens)... maybe once the swelling goes away, i might get my whistler back.. LOL

FT. do you have a cordless keyboard? I had problems with mine like you are having.. I changed the batteries and things settled down.. what it does is throw random signals at your receiver..

we always used to ride horses to the beer bar across the river and through the woods, so we could get as smashed as we wanted,, the horses always made it home with us as long as we could hang on..

I am negotiating with a guy who might buy all four of my Jamesway incubators.. Keep your fingers crossed..

Takin a break, just cleaned out the plywood from the front porch along with a huge bag of insulation. Dang near died MTing that out, out back. FT you know I'm only kiddin ya! Glad to hear that the tractor is running and that cart sounds really nice. You'll have post pics when you get it. You don't need brakes as long as you go RREEAALLL fast! Jim have done both methods of spacing the covers but the boxes are held in place by alumninum tabs. Never saw them b4 so as long as I'm at it..... Snowball effect ya know. Also adding outlets, only 2 in the whole room. Someone mentioned the lack of outlets in their house one time and I told them think about it, there weren't that many elec appliances when the houses were built. Was gonna bring a radio in and remembered we have sirious radio on the tube so turned on the 60's channel so I can dance and sing in my spare time.

yesterday we got those 3 holy cutenesses (call ducks) from BL4, that was the good part. this a.m. I started my "rounds" with those cuties and I find one dead??? WTHeck? I think it was stress with out mama? couldn't have been cold? possibly too hot? IDK but it would have to be the best one right?

the one with the mask, I think BL4 called him/her frozone??

I'm glad to hear you didn't kill the little thing !!! Nature sure is cruel isn't it? Hope he finds another friend out there in the wild.

Jimbo, no, it is my new laptop...... and combo of my big fingers. Plus the fact that I'm sitting in bed with it perched on my bent leg !!! I was on it playing games and searching CL almost all day, well OK, all day yesterday. Then by night time I bent my leg the wrong way and the cramps started !!!!!!!

Hurt like HE11 !!!

So trying standing up with only one flipper with cramps !!!!!! NOT FUN. So DrHaha, you aren't the only one DANCING !!!!

ET just came in and reported how ungodly hot it is out there. We lost one of our Broilers, we only have two. He brought them home from the feed store as chicks $1 each. Poor things were getting huge, I don't have the heart to tell ET to Kill them and he keeps saying he is going to do it. I guess now is the time.

Anyway, forgot to ask, all of you horse people. What kind of sand or mix do you recommend for a round pen? Now that we have the tractor running

we can get to working on putting up the round pen I picked up on CL a month ago. Hello my name is Sandi and I'm obsessed with CL !!! (Cause I'm to lazy to go rummaging and find the good stuff all of you guys have been getting)

I think the neighbor used washed sand???? ET went with another neighbor who is in the gravel business yesterday and came home with a cup full of sand and small gravel in it. $8 yard I think he said. I said I don't like the idea of the small gravel in it. He said well, then you can never take them on the gravel road !!!

I said I'd ask the experts. So I'm asking !!!!

Oh and we got the electric fence working again. Boy those drafts sure can do a number on the fence. It sure will be nice when we get the pasture fence up so they don't have to keep looking at the greener grass !!! It sure doens't look like it did 3 yrs ago !!! I was so proud of it.

Well, enough of this puter for a while, until next time. Think this is part of why my neck hurts !!!!!

At a week old, they should have been sturdy enough to survive without mamma. Since they are all together, they should not have been stressed out that much........ I am sorry you lost one Raimnel. How were they behaving last night once you got them home???

Sorry to hear about everyone who's losing birds. I have such a hard time when I lose one that I sympathize deeply with each and every one of you. Especially Raim with your new baby call.

No more working at the EAA hangar for me for awhile, so BL4, that lunch will have to wait! DD23 gets married in about 10 days, and we're busy around here. DS19 is doing a fantastic job retrofitting our old dairy barn with horse stalls. Yippee! I can't wait. Hey, if you know of anyone who has those rubber mats for the floor that they'd like to get rid of, I'm looking!

I keep checking my animals outside, and so far everyone is doing okay in the heat. I'm inside working on my mother-of-the-bride dress. Nothing like procrastination!

The baby call I got from BL4 at the bash is the most fun I've ever had with a duck. She's outside with the flock during the day and bosses around the big girls. It's too funny watching this little thing quack and chase a big old Pekin!

She has stayed in the duck house overnight a few times, but most of the time when I put the flock in at night, she heads for the house instead and waits by her box for me to take her inside. Crazy, I know. I draw the line at duck diapers.
