I got a letter today from the WI DATCP stating that they have approved my flock for participation in the WI tested flock program. That was quick! I just had my chickens tested last week.
Good afternoon all! Glad to hear that a cool down is headed our way unless that lying weasel of a weatherman is toying with us again!
This morning the brats from Hades left here, DH took them to Chicago, they have an early flight tomorrow and they will spend the early evening strolling the Lake Shore or whatever they find to do. I swear I've never been SOOOO thankfully to see anyone leave my house, although after my chat the other night with the one girl things were a lot better. On the flip side the one's dear mother decided to stay an extra couple of days so she could "see some cornfields and take us to dinner."
don't know what I did to deserve this, but you can bet I'm gonna find out!!!
CC and MLH - I agree I'd have never lived to regret my actions if I acted like that toward adults. Nor do I feel as though I was poorly treated for being made to be respectful or eating what was put in front of me. I just don't understand why people let their kids act like they do.
zsazsa haven't seen you before... welcome!
I am refusing to look to closely at the cute kitten pictures, I have two demented 7 yr. old cats that drive me nuts and most of the time are bigger pains in the rear than they are worth. Worse than having two 3 year olds to watch, only thing they do well is aggravate me!
kesali, glad you did get to get some fishing in. I really wish more lakes and rivers would start restricting what goes in the water like they do in some places. Love the little lakes that only allow little trolling motors and the like. We like to kayak and relax and enjoy nature, not listen to a bunch of folks tear the place up with their big old boats and jet skis, so I know where you're coming from.
Three cheers for Breac for giving MLH's worthless waste of space girls a pardon!
TO I can't offer any suggestions for a southern get together, just saying since you seem to unoffically nominated yourself as coordinator! LOL
I'll be happy to start the date list.
Cind glad Jasmine and all the wee ones were safe and sound, must be heartstopping for sure to come upon a pile of feathers like that. They are cute!
H&R congrats to the kids, that's awesome!
Carol I'm so sorry.
This morning noticed a lot of little jalapeno peppers and some other kind I've never grown, that I swear were not there yesterday. Apparently all this heat is good for something! House cleaning is done for the day, and now I am going to recover from having to deal with "those children".
TO-I will be the sign up and food list person. I suck a making polls.
I took a look at Token Creek virtual tour and it looks like a nice park. Shelter number 4 is the one closest to the dog park. That might be a good choice for those who wish to bring their pooches. I did an availability check for fun and shelter 4 looks booked on all Saturdays in August but Sundays look free and both September and October look to be free and clear on Saturdays.
I tried to find info about the shelters in McCarthy but could not find anything as that park seems very new.
CC- Token Creek is just north of Madison right off I-39/1-94 and McCarthy is east of Madison right of I-94 heading towards Milwaukee. Is Bong park the one by Burlington where all the UFO stuff happens? I tried to find it on the net but was unsure if I got the right park!
*hums to her self to drown out CC talking her into a cat* NO CATS CC!!!
I mean it! I am done!
I spoke to my beloved SIL today and got a kitten update from her. They have a new kitten named Mittens. So I'm good! I got to experience kitten ownership vicariously through her!!! I even got to experience a vet check up bill!!!
So NO CATS! No ideas about "dropping" one off because the cat talked you into it!!! No pawning one off on me at the Southern Bash (if we ever manage to get one going!)
BBP-Wow! That was fast! I thought mine got to me fast but yours was lightening!
Ok all caught up! Oh! I made a "dust tub" for the Girls today! I got a plastic storage tub thing at Wal Mart and some top soil. I added in some play sand and DE. I did not have any wood ash though so they did not get the exact recipe I found on line for chicken dust baths. Over all, they were scared of the tub of dust. However, once Midge got in it she scratched and picked at the dirt-that was rather fun.
They also got some fresh picked raspberries. They love those and Buzzy is a raspberry pig!
Well, I'd bet get outside to see if I have another girl laying eggs. I got one this morning but I heard another egg cackle-I think.
Chat soon!
TO glad to hear that attack hen is doing so well for you. She did for me, too, when I first got her.... Life's too short to have to be always on the lookout for the attack hen. Glad you gave her a good home, thank you very much!
I've signed up for the So. bash stuff. Happy to help with the planning if I'm needed. I vote for definitely having a shelter. They should be big enough for our group and will be best if we have to deal with rain and or high winds. I checked out the campground mentioned for the DeForest area and it looks great! Happy to go out there and check it out in person if needed. It appears all the shelters are handicapped accessible. I'd vote we get one close to a parking lot if possible.
Re: Animal swap at the Bash: I have two rabbits I'm looking to rehome (free). They were born in March, are siblings, 1 boy, 1 girl, both unfixed. Dad is a Lionhead, mom is a dwarf satin I believe. I've already sold a couple from the litter and am keeping one & the parents but would like to rehome the other two. PM me if you're interested. I can bring them to the bash or you can pick up sooner if you'd like. I'll offer them up on Freecycle if no one here wants 'em. They're really cute!
Re: Southern Bash - since it's going to be a one-day event (right?!) once we have an idea of who's coming and from how far, I'd suggest we set a tentative schedule as we won't have the luxury of tons of time that a two day event does. Doesn't have to be written in stone, something like:
10 a.m. - meet and greet
11 a.m. animal swaps
noon - potluck & yaking
2 p.m. white elephant
This way everyone who has some distance to cover will have a time frame to shoot for if they know they want to be here, say for the animal swap. Then again, if this is a lousy idea, I will just claim heat stroke/brain cell death & call it good! ha Looking forward to the bash!
Good afternoon--that sounds like a great schedule Elaine! You have the job! Now we just need the place! I think we should pass on McCarthy because I dont think the shelter is up yet. I guess we will wait until Deb tells us what the date is to figure out the place? I have never been to Bong, UFO's really? But fishing sounds good...NAH--we arent quiet enough for fishing!
The quail are laying that I got from Sweetfolly! I am steadily getting 2 eggs a day from 9 birds. I think I only have 2 girls...
I see more pickles quail eggs in my future!
So BBP--you tested ALL of your birds to get the certificate from DATCP? How many birds do you have? What are you planning now that you have it?
Amyable--my friend is very angry at me that I didnt tell you that she had kittens to give away! I showed her the pics and she said, "You KNOW I have cats too! Why didnt you tell her that I had some if you knew she wanted kittens???" SHEESH! That's what I get for showing off those adorable pics! I told her that you got them from a friend and that did not placate her at all. Brother, some people! So if anyone else NEEDS kittens please know that I have a friend that has some to give away!!! There, now I have done my duty!
Well I guess I should think about getting something together for dinner...girls are playing volleyball again tonight so it's just lil old me again.......later! Terri O
