Cindlady- the ad you posted is somewhere close to my parents. A few years back my parents had a young peahen wonder into their yard- it took about a week but my dad was able to catch her with the help of the neighbor and setting up a dog crate for it to go in. The neighbor had a friend that took it as this friend had peafowl at their place and no one knew who lost it. I told DH that would be interesting if this was the person who took the peahen!

Morning all - lots of reading to catch up on again today. Jim - thanks for the splint info! I too hope I never need it but it is there, thanks much!

My understanding when I emailed Budde is that he will still be selling them all, just the price would go up because he would have one more months of food in them I am assuming??? (and the fact that he can now sex them...)

WCC - hope the vet was able to take care of your clients horse. Doesn't sound like that was too good of a find! And hope you got some rest last night!

Terri - it would be great if you would be able to ride with Carol - it would be nice to meet you too!

I have one chick in the CTV. Waiting on the rest to hatch and hoping they do SOON. I don't see any more pips through the windows of the bator. They are due tomorrow... so hoping that they start pipping today and this little lonely chick in the TV can quiet down a bit. No idea on what breed it is... it is solid yellow fluff. The eggs I got from the guy were all mixed. The hens were with a bunch of different breed roosters. It did come from a tannish looking egg though. Cutest dang thing! The kids were talking about what to name it. I walked outside to do other chicken chores and heard the conversation.... my oldest DD8 said to the middle DD5 "We shouldn't name it, because it is probably going to be a rooster." DS3 says - "yeah, you right."

Man, they catch on fast don't they.

Well, have to go get my pies (cherry, blueberry and one apple) out of the fridge this morning and get them ready to go into town. Last day of tractor pull in town. And thank goodness.... I got home from the wedding last night at 11 and all I could hear is the loud blaring of the pulling tractors. (we are a mile out of town). I am off to do some Lioness duty this morning at the pie stand! Here's hoping it goes fast, I need to get some laundry done around here something terrible. And that floor still isn't mopped from the other day. Not a chore I enjoy, that is for sure. It is almost as bad as cleaning toilets! (which also should be done...)

TO those donkeys are adorable. I strongly suspect that for the rest of my life I'm going to be saying "If only I had more land"... I told DH when we were buying, the house don't matter, but the land does.... to him the house mattered more... silly man.

Well after 2 1/2 weeks we returned Bentley to his former owners. He was he// bent on eating the cats and we couldn't keep subjecting them to that. When he was in the house the only thing we could do was keep him on his leash so if he spotted a cat we could try to grab him and stop him. Can't get much done when guarding against attacks. At first it was more playful, but the last time he got close if the cat wouldn't have made it under the counter stool he'd have clamped down on her and seriously hurt her. We've decided that Murphy will just have to be an "ONLY". Thankfully Stella, the chocolate lab next door adores him and comes over to visit every day, so at least he has a buddy and she's good around the cats.

Worked my first shift last night, went well. Hopefully will get a few more hours this week. Course it's one of those jobs where the more you sell the more hours you get, which makes it hard starting out, although I would have had a sale last night if the girl wasn't leaving on vacation on Monday. If he's still there when she gets back on Saturday I know she'll take him.

DH is off to Boston for 12 days, giving me lots of uninterrupted time to complete some things I want done. Still have blinds that have been sitting here for 2 months waiting to be put up, have to paint the exterior trim on the shed, garage and house since it appears they put on one coat of INDOOR paint which is already peeling. Need to paint some furniture and the guest room, the puke yellow has to go...light lavender coming in, with pale dusty green and white accents. Need to plant 3 small white pine seedlings I've had in pots since Earth Day. Would like to start taking down some scrub trees along the property line, have to install some shelves in a couple of closets so I can get some more stuff unpacked. Need to move 2 free potting benches neighbor offered me. Ome is beautiful and going in my laundry room, the other in the future chicken coop. Need to head out this morning to find a couple of new pendant lamps for over the counter and some dimmer switches... DH HATES overhead lights unless they are on dimmers. His ex step son is coming over to replace the lights and install the dimmer switches for me. OH and need to call my ex-boyfriend and see how his schedule is... DH wants to install 2 new windows that go within inches of the floor in living room which is upstairs and doesn't offer much of a view unless you are standing up. I think that about covers it for now... maybe I dont' want a lot more hours at work the next 2 weeks!! I'm hoping if I can get all this done then when he returns he'll start helping me with the coop.... I can HOPE, right?

Well, off to get started on that long list... hope you all have a WONDERFUL day!f

Morning all!

Dornes-have fun selling pies and I'll mop your floors (I like to mop!) if you'll dust my house...(I hate dusting!).

TO-No fair posting pics of mini donkey's! That spotted one is nice but so is the other one! If I had space, I'd take them in a heart beat. I love donkey's.

Dk-Im so jealous! You have closets! I only have one maybe closet in the whole house! It's a tiny space under the stairs....

That is about as much as I can remember...too much to catch up on! We've had a busy weekend.....
Had a third contractor/handyman out yesterday to do a bid on enclosing the car port. He was almost an hour late (at least he called) and I'm still waiting for him to email me his bid....*sigh* I'm none to pleased especially after he said he'd sent it "shortly". Grrr.... Sure fire way to get on my bad list is to be late.... Plus, makes me wonder what would happen if I gave him the job. Says he "needs" the money to help make ends meet, but Jimminy Christmas.....sure doesn't act like it.
The first guy out was the one I liked, on time, professional, knew chicken needs, etc but he charges by the hour and dh does not want to go that route, so we will go with the second guy. The second guy might end up a little higher then the first guy, but he was on time too, knows chicken needs and very personable plus he is a licensed contractor.

Dh and I moved the Hen Pen farther out from the car port so the contractor guy can work and we can have it enclosed properly. The girls will have a window, a storm door with a window that opens with a screen and some venting for air flow. Nest boxes are already ordered and I can make little ladder type roosts. I'm going to have to plan where to put the rabbits in the grand scheme of things. The Girls will want to go onto the rabbit cages to roost regardless and that will be a mess. I'm planning on making little stands for their cages, but I have to figure out where to put them for the winter where the chickens can't roost on the cages. Hmmmmm..... Good thing I'm doing this now!

Well, I've got tons more to do....I might not be back today....

So maybe it isnt going to rain all day...I have MUCH canning to do! I just wanted to mark my place here and catch up. I really wish I could have a couple of those barns too FT! Mine is FULL! Hey, anyone wondering where Shanty has been? It was her son that had that restaurant that had a fire wasnt it? I was wondering if he ever got it up and running again?
We seem to be missing a few folks lately. Maybe the "time drain" is getting to them? I think I am going to have to start setting my timer so I only stay on for 15 or 30 minutes sessions...Geez--looks like Ol' Jim even checks the thread in the middle of the night! Was it a wolf FT? Did it get anything last night? We had a wolf/dog at the shelter one time and I had to go in and drop off a stray around midnight...that thing started up the most eerie, goosebump raising howl I have ever heard! Still gives me the shivers remembering it!

Gotta move...stuff to can, animals to feed....have a fantastic day! Terri O

DH asked me to find out if he's available. I acutally see ex couple of times a year as my kids are very close to him and DH even worked with him on some things, ex is an amazing carpenter and DH and he get along very well. And besides, DH still talks to ... oh... about 8 of his old girlfriends from long ago

good AM, You all know that you will not be able to find the splint info when you need it. But I have it filed here and if you ever do need it, just let me know.. at least you have an idea of what to do, in your memory banks.. It is difficult to write directions and still keep it short and simple.. but once you co it, you will catch on ..

I bought a video cam from Menard's yesterday.. $49.98 with a $30.oo rebate.. It takes pictures also.. the sample photos my daughter took of the jewelry she makes turned out better than her expensive camera.. she has to take close up photos of necklaces on a dummy neck .. (No CC, not mine)

I have to buy a memory card for it yet.. that will prolly cost twice of what the camera did..

I wonder if the card from my digital camera will fit ?? Hmmmm
only thing is, I have a couple hundred photos on there that I don't want to lose..

I can download videos with the new camera,, except, I do not know if my MSN system can handle it..

the main reason I wanted a video camera is to show how the chicken plucker works.. some people cannot mentally picture it..

Deb, you sure have a lot of projects you want to get finished.. You do remember that winter is coming,,,,,?? No more 12 months in the year to do things.. LOL

Those turkeys are about the size of my young one.. I should buy them all and keep the females .. (if any ARE females).. But to wait 2 years for eggs,,, I will be 70 if I live that long.. LOL

I purposely typed this long so that CC will have something to read when she gets back home.. LOL
