Or if FT would bring them down for the southern bash?
Don't you just love trying to take pics of chickens? Thank goodness for digital cameras so we don't have to use an entire roll of film trying to take a clear picture of a chicken! And then having to wait for them to be developed only to find out you failed.

You have some awfully good looking birds there, Tiki. Are those some orps & aussies on the bench? What's the gray one? And is that you in that pic? Not fond of cameras? Me neither.

Thank you for posting the pics.

Well you cheese heads are really funny.

yeah those were the days with the film camera ... cant count how many rolls I wasted to find all over or under developed. I had the kind that I had to set the exposure myself. Akkk!

Not me in the pict but I highly doubt I will be in any future picts

I have the buff Orpingtons and Blue and black rocks. The male Orp is Chief. I will take picts of my new blue rock babies too.

Oh the Ameraucana lady there is Lulu, she LOVES the camera!

I'm not a poultry tester but I have a friend that is. My friendly rooster is still available. He's white with some faint yellow barring and a few black spots. He's half silver laced wyandotte and maybe Cochin and leghorn? He's not the prettiest thing, but he sure is sweet. The black and white rooster I posted on here a while ago was the Nikkeii. Now that he's decided he's wild I'm not sure what to do with him. I also have a lavender orpington rooster, a lavender orpington X Iowa Blue rooster, a dorking x Iowa Blue rooster and a black orpington x partridge chantecler rooster to rehome. Free if anyone is interested. I told my husband I'd never have more than 12 chickens when I decided to get some again last fall. I have 41 right now and eggs in the incubator!
Dornes if you need chicks I have some that are under a week old that you could have for free. I'm not sure how far you are from me though.

Yeah those darn eggs in the incubator! I just cant through them after candling them and seeing them moving.

What is a Nikkeii? I looked it up on feathersite and no picts. eta oops uhh you know what page that was on?

Tiki those are some pretty chickens, sure wish I had the coop even started, I'd drive up for some chicks! Sounds like you won't have any problem finding a nice home for them!

Got a couple of things done today, but nothing off my list really except some errands DH asked me to run. Tomorrow gotta kick it into gear...after the phone guy leaves. Have an interview Wednesday for a FT customer service job in Milton

Also got a call today (a full month after I put in application) from Home Instead that they'll hire me. Could have went in for their training tomorrow 'cept I have to be here for the phone guy. Now I officially have 3 very part time jobs, one that hasn't even started yet (and I'm beginning to think it may not...

Today I picked up a copy of Mother Earth News and see a couple of giveaways some of you folks might be interested in. American Lilvestock Breeds Conservancy and Tractor Supply teamed up to give away a heritage chicken starter kit - valued at over $1,000, includes a flock of heritage breed chickens, a $500.00 TS gift cert and more.

Community Chickens.com and Mobile chicken Coops are giving away a custom built, movable coop valued at $2,500.00 w/auto waterer, feeder and a years supply of feed and more.

They also have a show off your shed contest as well... most decorative or colorful and a category for best use of repurposed materials and/or most versatile shed.

Today I got sidetracked for a bit... I've been trying to photograph this bugger for ...oh about 3 weeks or better... the only dark butterfly I've seen around here, but s/he remained elusive. Today s/he succumbed to the lure of my butterfly weed and gave me 20 minutes to snap some pics.

well off to bed for me, later folks
Deb

good evening, I got the lean-to all cleaned out and bedded it with that fine cut grass .. I moved all the guinea keets by myself.. In retrospect, not a good idea.. both nets I used had holes in them.. Of course after I was finished moving over 40 birds,, one at a time,, I found the good net..

the americauna were not happy about being shut out of "their" lean to.. I had to kick ten out of the way each time I put a guinea through the doorway.. after I got all the guineas moved, I opened the door for the americauna.. It was like opening a flood gate.. about 30 birds trying to go through the doorway at the same time.. such creatures of habit..
I wonder how happy they will be tomorrow when I don't let them out.. I will let them out IF I can keep the guineas from trying to escape..

My bum shoulder hurts tonight from all that shoveling.. I still have two coops to clean..

the next coop I build is going to have an overhead door so that I can take the tractor in and scrape the floor..

Tiki, you will be passing just 5 miles of my place if you go into wausau on sth 29.. If you have time, I could meet you in wausau and buy you a cuppa or something..

CC and Cind, you can come visit anytime.. roadtrip !!!! actually anybody can stop in if you are near wausau.. But no beer for TO.. we have wine, too.. and lots of coffee for the DesDrvr..

Just PM me before you come..

I took a real sudsy shower tonight, but I can still smell chicken sh!t.. It must permeate the skin pores.. when the kids were young and we cleaned a lot of chickens on a weekend (100), they would sit around and fart and laugh because it smelled like wet chicken feathers.. LOL The girls were just as bad as the boys about it..

I don't think there is an elk season in wisc,. so if you shoot any with or without a collar you could be in deep doo doo..

3 quail eggs today.. I put one into my "quail" tray for the bator
today and it fell right through to the floor.. It did not break, but I'll bet it scrambled the yolk.. I'll have to modify a tray for incubating them..

.........jiminwisc.........

Dorn.... Hope you find some company for that little one.

TO... Where was mama finch? Gee... new seat belts AND gas! That truck should run like a dream now!

CP.... Cool pics! How close were you?

dkv.... beautiful butterfly! You don't see near as many as when we were kids!

tiki... hope we can work something out, maybe a chain? If not no big deal for me... I just thought they would be some real cool looking birds! If CC want's a couple maybe she can get them down here and we could split the hatch. CC?

Well, Jasmine must think the kids are old enough to be on their own...7 weeks... dose that sound about right to those of you with broodies? She left the kids in their shed and run for most of the day while she "jumped the fence" and free ranged. Tonight she went in the coop with everyone else. She did take the roost right by the door to the other part of the shed. It has a screen so she could keep an eye on them. I think in a couple of days I'll put them in with the ones I got from Jim. They've been able to see each other all along. Nothing but a bit of chicken wire between them. If they integrate well that will be the 4th "subflock". I got to get some new pics of them.... the cochin's feet have so many feathers it's a wonder they can walk! No wonder they can't fly like the ameraucanas! Little puff balls!

Had a bad case of AAADD today. Seems like I got nothing done.

I was busy, just nothing done, well I did get my basket shelf up. I now have a place (besides my counter) to put all my baskets! It's a shelf with hooks underneath so I can hang some too. And yes, it was made from "scratch" I cut the board, rounded the 2 facing corners, stained it, sealed it and hung it all by myself!
big_smile.png
I'm a big girl!

LOL I wish I had a router... would have made it a bit fancier. LOL When I was trying to match the stain to my cabinets I came to the realization that I have 3 shades/tints of cabinets in my kitchen. They look fine... until you compare them close, or try to match a stain!
