well, good morning, looks like I am not the last one up..

I let all the americauna loose.. the guineas cowarded on the far end of the pen so it went real smoothly.. I just opened the door and all the chickens scrambled out..

Long story,, short,, I accidently put two guineas in with the quail. they have done nothing but cry continuously.. today with the help of Annie, they will be caught and put in with the guineas..

I couldn't find mama duck and her 14 babies last night to lock them up.. It turns out she put herself to bed in the guinea pen.. good mama.. I never thought to look in there..

I only saw 2 of the remaining 3 little ducklings this morning.. I have been losing one per night.. we locked them up, but they escaped.. I suspect that ferel cat.. he is too smart to go into the trap I have set, or else, he just doesn't like canned oysters.. I don't blame him.. especially when the alternative is fresh duckling...LOL

I just had a popup that there is a message from byc just came in.. must e TO.. we always post at the same time..

...............jiminwisc.............

nope, it was FT..

WOW--great coop Dornes! I sure wish I had the skill/money to make one like that! Your hens should have no problem flying up to the boxes...if you start finding eggs on the floor...then you will need to make them a ladder!
lau.gif
The only thing I will say is that they will probably sit on top the boxes to roost and it will get pretty messy there...maybe put a 45* angled board to keep them off the top? (or a removable poop board?) or maybe it doesnt even matter to you?...(I should talk eh?)

A few things I wanted to comment on...of course they have slipped my mine...oh yeah, testers; in addition to those mentioned Hurley and Raim also are testers.
Jim...I believe if I am going to make a road trip to see you then you'd better go to town and get some GF beer for me! I will give you plenty of notice...

We went to the Mexican place in town last night...really delicious food and the one place that I can go and not get ill from Cross Contamination. So I have a few leftovers that I will dine on in a little bit....MMMMM! No more guineas in the bator this morning...I have decided to collect quail eggs and hatch them. I am going to take Priscilla outside so she can "get fertilized" too so I can get more good eggs. THe little finch baby has stayed i the nest for 24 hours now and there is attention on him so I am hoping he will live! Such an adorable little thing!
The move in for DD19 went very well yesterday. It is amazing how full the dumpsters all over Madison are from all the kids that moved out the day before! Pretty easy to tell that the kids arent hurting for cash...her apartment is very nice. The girls she is sharing with all know each other from the dorms last year so I hope they can remain friends and work out differences! DD is anxious to get back to school.

I am off to work outside a bit before "going to work" hopefully get the garden harvested and the tomato cages propped up correctly! WHo would know that heirloom tomatoes get sooooo big? I sure wish I could find my camera so I could show you how tall they are...way above my head and 4' across I would say! It is just one big block of plants in there...no idea how I am going to harvest...but at least there arent any weeds!

Have a fantastic day! Terri O

I just missed it by a few minutes,, TO did post at the same time..

TO , give me a list of the brands of beer you can drink.. I will get them and try them out.. I might even like them, eh?

I believe a student could go to Mad town and furnish his whole apartment out of those dumpsters.. Why haul a trailer full of things, when they are right there for the taking ??

Too young for that aaaadddd? No way - heck, I even end up putting laundry soap in the fridge thinking it is milk. I think it has nothing to do with age - more the fact that you have so much on you can't tell you head from a hole in the ground and if it wasn't attached - you'd forget that too!

Actually, I tried the copy and paste and it said that Mozilla firefox is not supported with copy and paste. So - SOL I guess.... I can't get any internet pages to load on my IE. Junk I tell ya, JUNK!

Well, hubby should be back from the co-op any minute now and it is demolition time on the clothes line.... and hopefully getting at least the area where the runs will be marked today. Have to wait to get the lumber for another day.

And trust me - if it cost me much to get this coop going - I wouldn't have done it! lol, the shed was here when we purchased the lot from my in-laws (in which my MIL is super upset that we made it into a coop and the thought of having chickens in there ticks her off. The heck with her I say! lol) I have only invested 45.00 in 2x4's and then one roll of chicken wire thus far. The rest of the stuff we have had laying around
smile.png
(oh and the staple gun and the staples...) I know I am going to have to buy more lumber and at least one more roll of wire.... and a netting for the top. But other than that - cheap coop!

Guess that cup of coffee this morning has really got me going - sitting here for the past hour catching up on facebook, blogs and BYC of course... better get my butt off this chair and get movin! Peepers isn't peeping so bad this morning - probably super depressed and has no will to peep. I did see her (i think it is a pullet by wing sexing) eat and drink so I feel better know she has done that!

ETA - TO, yep, I realize the chickens will get on top of the boxes. I have visions of going to gather eggs and the chickens greeting me by standing on top of those boxes with their freshly laid eggs in the boxes below them. I was thinking of making up some sort of poop pan to set on there, but have to think further on that as far as what I will use. Thanks for the advice though!
smile.png
Had I not had those visions - the thought of all that poo up there may queeze me out! DH wanted to put the wire on the front of the boxes and have me be able to use the top of the boxes for storage and shelving. I said no

Dornes that coop is awesome!! Great job!

See mention of folks having trouble loading pics. I tried to load some earlier and ... every time I upload a new one it eats some of the others. Start out at 14% and end up at 11 after uploading two pictures, one of which disappears with the next download. Happens a lot lately... must be some sort of glitch in the system...

TO those are some big tomatoes. I remember when I was a kid my dad planted some and they were over 10 feet tall! They reached up over the back edge of the garage roof! Hope they are producing a ton of tasty 'maters for ya. If they are tasty and good producers I'd like to know what they are so I can get some seeds.

Was walking Murphy through the neighbors garden this morning and OF COURSE I saw something and after the walk HAD to grab the camera... one of my favs from this morning.

Got all the indoor chores done, now headed out to finally make a decision on where to put the phlox and butterfly bush. Later DH's ex step son is coming over to put up the new lights and dimmer switches YAY!

Beautiful Pictures you posted !!! So what actually is this last one of ? That must be some camera you have or you have a steady hand !! More like Both !! What kind is it if I might ask? Yeah if she is as nice as they say she might be coming home. After all my birthday is coming up on the 24th. Mentioned that to DH ET and he said, "I thought the new cart was your Birthday Present " !! I just stared straight ahead and blinked my eyes !!!

OMG, Deb, that is a gorgeous picture!

TO, if you decide to visit Jim, I wouldn't mind coming along. A road trip sounds like fun. And it sounds like Cind wants me to make a delivery anyway.
lol.png
Maybe we could carpool or convoy or something sometime.

I still want to see FTs place with all her critters too someday. Cute horsey, BTW. And you just forget about TO's goat, missy.
lau.gif
DH decided he wants a goat, and who am I to argue? You're getting a free one up in MI, aren't ya FT?

Why am I still on this puter? The day's a wasting. Enjoy it!
