I need to hang out on this thread more because there are a lot of good links I'm missing out on! And some laughs as well I see. We will have to invite those close to the Wausau area over to my house when we vaccinate chicks next week or the week after (whatever is best for you). I will buy the food and the drinks

Evening All,
Had another long day, but that is par for the course for me. I may have found a good horse for my new client. Not sure if it will go though but I was texting the owner for quite a long while tonight.
chickens are doing fine, I got some pics of the bundle o hens crammed in the nest boxes.
And some kewl pics too this A.M.

I will also have to get a pic of a hideous dress that my DH's aunt got her DGD....
I sent pics to TO and to KristiP.

So who wants some ducks? I need to find them a home.. the muscovy cross seems to be gorgeous, it is moulting out its baby fluff to an unusual color.. I will post those pics too.

Night all.

PS.. I made creole chicken rice with fresh tomatoes from the garden, and canned chicken.. STILL after cooking it, you couldn't tell one bit.
SUPER yummy

Boo!

Well... I did have comments and a little to say.... But the stressful day with Duke turned into a stressful night. He's been in allot of distress, and I'm at a loss of what else to do. Much as I love the old guy, I think it's time to let go. Just have to convince DH.

He gets "lost" in the house! He's in another whine and bark cycle now.... better go.

Good Morning Everybody! Many cool pics! CC you hit the nail on the head with your chickenometry! Cind sorry to hear Duke isn't doing well, it's always hard to make that decision.

FT think if you get anymore animals ET will banish you to the barn! Kris wish you were closer I'd load you up with veggies! Gonna have to do some things different next year but that's always the case. The Roma's are starting to turn so there will be sauce in our future too

With the garden coming in there hasn't been much time for weeding turns out the weather also grows them very well too!

Today I get to go down in the crawlspace to tear apart the kitchen drain, not looking forward to that. Peatwo is trying his darnest to make ALL the hens his. Fun to watch! Gotta go pick beans for L to take for someone. And pick cukes for someone else. Then down in the dungeon to cross that off the list. Have a good one!

Good morning all! Just a quick note before I get a couple of things done and get ready for my interview. I'm soooo hoping to get this job, would really prefer one full time to 3 part time jobs, especially since all 3 pt's are prone to very last minute scheduling!

Well spent a total of one hour and 10 minutes on the phone w/the morons at AT&T, only to be told that tech would be here before 8pm. I asked how that could be since the time frame was 8am to noon, but was told "technically he has until 8 pm". Of course he was a no show... spoke to 5 idgets to get this bit of info. The most irritating part is everyone of them gave their name and said they would do "everything to make sure I was satisfied today".... wanted to choke them by the end.

Spent nearly 2 hours finishing a job DH started a month ago. Asked him to cut down to pine type trees that were planted against the house.... he used neighbors chain saw to hack down one, then he and his daughter decided the other could stay, totally overlooking the fact that it rubs against the siding and is still only about 5 feet tall.... left all the cut stuff laying there and after 2 weeks I finally gave up waiting for the clean up and cleaned it up. Yesterday I finished the job of removing the one he sorta cut down....with a hand saw. Told him the other one is coming down as soon as he gets back (I'm terrified to tools that could potentially amputate a body part.... thank you Junior Achievement and your gory posters for that!). Also managed to plant the little butterfly bush, although I'm sure I'll end up moving it next year.

Got my new lights in over the sink and the dimmer switches
wee.gif
whoever put the can lights in went with builder grade ones in the kitchen and living room and put FLOOD lights in them.... perhaps they thought at some point the new owners might need to do surgery in their living room...

Cind I'm so sorry to hear Duke isn't doing well. My DH is the same way, he just hasn't got it in him and I'm the one that has to make and follow through with the tough decisions.

well off to do some chores and get ready for another, hopefully my last, interview.

Here's the little Peepers.

Carol and I will be meeting Saturday so I can pick up my peachick and also get some company from TO (meeting her finally too!) for my little Peepers. Can't wait because this peeping is getting on my nerves just a tad... Thank you again Carol
smile.png
And TO for the buddies for my lonely Peepers.

- still no more pips on this hatch. I am totally bummed because when I candled them at lock down they all looked viable. I took Peepers out a day after it's hatch and when I did I just very carefully lifted the lid only as far as my hand could reach in and grabbed the chick. I didn't notice a drop in humidity at all because before I did that I got the sponge wet...

confused.

Last night I made a batch of homemade ketchup from some tomatoes I had picked last weekend. They needed to go because the others are still green and I don't want these to spoil. Got out the food mill and sent the tomatoes through twice then cooked down all the juices with one chopped onion. Simmered for a while and then sent it through the food mill again to get rid of the onions. Added in the spices and the corn starch for thickening. It tastes JUST like store bought ketchup. I had never made this before (actually only just bought this cookbook from Goodwill the other day because of the Ketchup recipe in it.) Going to can it today.

Yesterday we got an old flower garden bed ripped out of the yard and leveled the dirt that was in it. It was full of weeds and two dead, well one halfway dead, tree. Got the clothesline taken down and ready to be put back up in a new location after the chicken run is in place. Built a raised bed against my new coop and moved all my strawberry plants into it. Glad for the rain last night too, so the berry plants don't die off. DH and I visualized where the new runs will be and figured how much lumber we need and how we will go about assembling it. Should be a great blast of fun attaching all that chicken wire with hardware mesh across the bottom. We figure we will frame out the full length of the run, attach the wire and then put it up and attach it where it needs to be attached. Just like framing out a house! I think that will cause less aggravation and annoyance.
