Update on the foster eggs for Terry O: we candled the ones in the incubator and out of 18 eggs, 16 of them are developing good-we saw veins and movement! Do have a question- the green bantam egg's air sac seems to be detached and free floating-what kinds of problems can that cause?

Have not messed with the eggs under "Blue", she is still going strong on them and is at day 16- hatch day for her is March 10th!

Enjoy the day, it's suppose to reach 40*!

Wow you were up early Hens and Roos! I am not sure what that means when it is detached but I will read up. All I have seen so far is that it is not good! Great news that my roos are doing their jobs and your incubator is working great too! I am getting excited for babies! I am sure Blue is doing her job just as well as the bator is.
Glorious sun AGAIN! and 40 you say? Yeah...I really do have to get out and ride! I only have a half day at work (new job) so I hope to do just that. THanks for the offer from Fordmommy's Mom! I am not sure if my DH is coming to camp or not. If he is then I probably wont bring my horse...but if my daughter is coming...then we will! Choices!
Got my first goose eggs! Just what I need, more geese...anybody want to get into Toulouse geese? I was thinking about bringing goslings to the Chickenstock. THey looks so white when you are used to brown chicken eggs! I dont think they can be fertile yet...they have been making a bunch of noise at night but I havent noticed any "action" out there. Of course I dont follow them around all day but...when my BC Sarge was alive he always let me know because he thought he needed to break them up! Man, I miss that dog! I sure could be using him now too; those birds were way down in the plowed field this morning and I like to lock them in the dooryard or they go out on the road when I am at work. I hate living on a county highway....at least in THIS county!

Speaking of counties...I read all about that Muscovy thing that you guys posted the link of. That is NUTS! Why in the world are they doing that to people that raise them for pets. Even if you do for meat you have to have a permit to sell to anyone and then it sounds like you practically have to follow them home and make sure that they butcher it! Well, I guess I will have illegal stuff in my yard again! First the geese and the dogs now the ducks! What's next? I am really thinking that we might have to move into a less uptight county. Either that or plant a huge pine tree screen so no one can see that lives here!
Gotta go to work--Terri O

Terry O that's not early, I am usually awake by 5:30 pm and the kids have to be up by 6 am so they have enough time to get ready for school and if I'm really lucky our Irish Setter won't start barking before than(like she did at 3:30 am this morning), guess it doen't help that the baby chicks are by her crate until "Blue" hatches her eggs out and the chicks can be moved out to the garage.

Speaking of "Blue" we decided this am to check her eggs and see what might be there, happy to report that she only pecked me a couple of times while we candled them. There are 7 eggs that show chicks and we were seeing movement with them, the others were clear and when I checked nothing but a runny yolk. So that is the count on her eggs! Soon Terry O should have some little chicks to take care of along with all the rest of her animals.

Terri O, You can come live by me. There are practically NO rules here. Your land has to be registered, that's about it.

It was SO nice yesterday, I went and washed my truck. Now it's all shiny again! It got to 42* here. Right now it's 23* and counting. I really am loving this slow melt.

Thanks Babylady4 on the house compliment.

Hey fordmommy, what do you mean by registered? For county zoning, or NAIS?

I cannot believe this weather - 5 days straight of glorious sun!

In WI we have a form of NHIS, all property that has animals needs to be registered, its simply, but I don't like it

Yeah, I knew about the property ID. I think its unconstitutional; so call me an outlaw but I will not be registering with the gooberment just because I keep certain kinds of animals. (steps down from soapbox...)

BCC, I PM'd you about a chicken.
