Me too! Cool day for doing some landscape work! Need to chop and dig out some honeysuckle bushes that look crappy in the flower bed by my front door. Planted it 4-5 years ago when we moved in and now it is overgrown and plenty of plants I am not thrilled with. Tried some roses in back and dont like them there so putting them in the front bed. My mother in law forgot about some flower plants she bought this summer and was leaving on vacation yesterday so she handed me some half dead plants I am going to put in and hope for the best. That is my day after grocery shopping and between picking the kids up, making lunch and hitting the library. busy day off of work,.,.

Was just thinking about the card displays that you see at the pet shops, wonder where they get all of their pictures? Maybe they buy pictures ?

Something to look into?

Just have the windows open a bit and it is cold in here. Not complaining though, I love fall weather, just to short up here!

DH ET got the gate on the dry lot that goes to the pasture so I can let the horses in and out easier. Looks like they won't be going out in the next couple of days with the colder nights.
WCC do you know what magazine had that article on fall pasture?

Here is one picture I uploaded of the first day they went out. It is Queen my black Percheron/morgan. She is about 10 yrs old. She is the one that had the leg injure from the barn where I boarded her and was at the UWM vet school for 10 days. She is fine now and my beatiful spoiled favorite, sssshhhh don't tell the others. She is really beautiful under harness. Hopefully I can get her hooked up yet this fall.
Oh and btw, the dried grass you see on the pasture is not freshly cut and as you can see it is not a lush pasture by all means. Taking to long to upload the other photos for some reason. Will post later. Plus I made videos so have to upload to Youtube.

Good morning! Kinda....spent a bunch of time on here already and thought I would catch up with you all before I get grease taking the fat off of that broth to can. I will post the canning recipes while processing OK? I had some of the LO zucchini/corn relish on my baked potato last night for dinner--YUM!
I got up at 10 to 7 today...then went back to bed and slept until 9:15!

Man, that felt good! I guess it was because I spent the entire day on my feet in the kitchen? I will go with that....

FT-- I WISH my pasture looked as good as yours! Mine has been overgrazed for 5 years not and it needs to be replanted. There is not a farmer around here that will till it up and reseed for me though! I have asked 4 so far...they all say "too much work" for the money! Geez...farmers around here must be rolling in $$$ is all I can say...maybe I should advertise on CL and see if there is anyone?

I need to get into town today too--overdue books, need feed (again), banking and I have to drop my grocery list for Friday's cooking! SH!T...I guess I better get off of here and get this day moving! At least the critters are all fed...and no Jim, I did not let the remaining pigeons out...I do not plan on feeding that hawk today! (and oh are they teed-off!)

Later! TErri O

I am back from the feed store with 2000 pounds of feed..
I didn't realize how messy it got in front of the garage until just now when I have to get to the door to unload the trailer.. there is a half a day's work just to get to the door..

I already washed the deck off, so that job is done..

I might be making a trip to Berlin tomorrow or Friday.. will know in a few minutes..

.........jiminwisc..........

i just got confirmation, I should be in Berllin, wis at about 10AM on thursday.. I am picking up a trio of peafowl..

$5000 to plow, drag and seed 20 acres ?? Now I know what business I should get into..

can't you just hook onto a drag and rough up the sod, and then hand broadcast some hay seed ? then lightly drag and you're done...

Good luck finding someone !!! We checked into having our 20 acres replanted. I had it tested as well cause there is alot of indian paintbrush in it. It needs to be limed real bad. All said and done it would cost us about $5000. Then I would have nice new hay but still have to pay someone to cut and bale for us since we don't have the equipment !!! And no place to store it!!
So in the long run it is cheaper to buy hay! We get it for $1.75 a bale. 40-50 lb grass mix hay. Have to drive 60 milees one way for it and can only haul 90 at a time. I don't complain though. It is costing us ALOT more to feed the chickens !!
I was outside all day yesterday (my sunburn is killing me) and I was looking over all of my roosters !!! Thought I might be a good idea to just pluck a few hackles and saddle feathers on the boys now and then to earn their keep !!! If you cull them you can only sell the feathers once !!!
lau.gif

TO you never said what kind of feathers your salon is looking for??? Let me know, then I'll check out the salons up here for my source. Hey even a few bucks here and their will help the feed bill. Plus it's time for supplemental lighting and electric to keep water from freezing!!!
That pasture had been cut a a lawn by the previous owner on and off and we did too except for this year. It won't last long if we let them out to much. It is only about 1.5 acres. We are planning on fencing in about 8-10 acres of the 20 acre hay field. Or should I say hay-weed field. We are going to make two pastures out of it so we can rotate them. I bought enough fencing to do it all. Now just need to find some more deals on cedar posts. Got the last ones for $2 each. My original posts cost $5 each and they had the small holes they used for stipping them and are in bad shape !!! Live and learn !!

Shoot it cold in here. Thought I might turn on the heat to make sure the furnace will work when we need it. Plus I had better check the propane tank.
Ok, need to do chicken chores again as usual.

Oh and I'm sorry, been meaning to with Cind and Jim belated Happy Birthdays !!! Jim sorry, birthdays over so You'll have to wait on the gift !!! But just remember mine comes before yours !!!!!

DH just got back from town. Looks like it is going to cost about $45 to fix the tractor, again. And looks like he will be starting a job next week sometime. Hope I don't jinx it by spilling the beans !!! Guess I'll be taking over some of his chores !!! So long to the layed back morning coffee computer time !! Last fall when he went to CO elk hunting it took me all day to do morning chores and by the time I got done I had to start the evening chores !!! One good thing though I lost weight !!! I did manage to find it again,

And Jessy James aka JJ a male donkey
love.gif
We was abused when we got him. We can finally catch him, halter him and pet him but he shakes like a leaf. Everytime gets better !! Poor guy

The gate you see in the back ground is going to lead into the pastures on our 20 acres behind the trees. We'll have to lose a pine or two to do it. One of the trees in the pathway is a choke cherry so that is good news !!

You rascal !!! You beat us all to it !!! Whatcha getting, two hens and a cock ? Wanna sell one hen ????
Holy crappola !! You weren't kidding when you said you were getting a ton of food!! How long will that last you ?
That's why we didn't do it. That would be Round Uping all of it etc. Lime, fertilizer etc. The whole nine yards. Everyone you talk to tells you something different. We really need the lime up here bad. That is the most expensive part I believe. Been a few years since I checked so don't remember exactly but I do remember the total cost.
I thought of just winter overseeding it as well but without the lime I don't know if I would be wasting my money or ??? To just go over it and spray for weeds was very reasonable.
Alot to consider and if it doesn't work then your SOL. Main goal right now is just keeping the weeds mowed down to prevent even more. But with tractor out of commission we had to wait til the neighbors cut and baled it (long story about them
somad.gif
) so of course they did all of their fields first and my weeds went to seed again this year !!
somad.gif
He doesn't care what he feeds his cows !! Plus he made round bales which I don't use for my horses so getting half is out of the question. Not to mention it was rained on before he baled it !!! Is good for Sh!t for my horses.
somad.gif
Don't even get me started on them, have to get along they are all related up here remember !!!! Plus I am surrounded by them all

IDK,, I have not seen them.. the only one I know for sure is the peacock I have,, he is an India Blue.. the chick I have could be a cross of a black shoulder hen and an India Blue male.. IDK the sex of that one, yet.. I had one person say it is a male, for sure.. another person is convinced it is a female.. all I know for sure is that one of them is correct..
