Did I mention I build houses with HFH? To date we've built six 'all-women-build' houses in Rock County. It does sound like my idea of fun!

Love, Linn B (aka Smart Red) Gardening zone 5a - 4b in south-est, central-est Wisconsin

I was thinking the same thing, Habitat for Humanity, Chicken style. There are alot of women on CheeseHeads and several guys. I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing the work while us women supervised !!!

Jim you gotta stop being so funny, I'm trying to wind down so I can get some sleep and if you keep posting those funnies, It'l never happen !!
Anybody notice my posts are short and sweet these days? I posted a really nice long one today and in an instant it was gone. I've come to realize that it is when I either hit two keys at once or type to fast and must hit one of the wrong keys like the shift or control key along with some other key is when it happens. Sure wish I knew exactly what causes it, sure ticks me off !! Big time !!
Sometimes you can right click on your mouse and then click on the undo button and it will undo what you just did. In this case it did nothing !!!

Well, I'm gonna sign off before I lose it again. Can't quite remember what I even posted today, Oh yeah, I was wondering TO what you are doing for Gluten free pumpkin pie? My niece is making pumpkin bars. They are having a totally gluten free Thanksgiving meal at my sisters house. It will be just DH and me. The first Thanksgiving we are going to be alone.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate in the next few days, need to get the lights on in the coops, make my water heaters and deworm the chickens as long as they aren't laying anyway. Oh and get chicken food and hay. Geez, no rest for the wicked !!

Anybody going shopping on Black Friday. Hey Cind, some of the stores are starting the sale at Midnight !! Just up our alley !!!

Ok, night, I mean Morning all !!

Turkey Dinner !!

LOL FT.... While everyone else is in a daze, we'll be wide awake and ready to go!

Well, finished up the deer. I guess that nice heart shot was just a kill shot
hmm.png
First shot was in the rump. I did manage to save most of the meat but looks like no nice steaks. Oh well, it's pretty much free!
roll.png

TO...You mean you don't always have chickens on the porch? Gee, some of us have regular visitors on the porch. Sometimes they even walk right in!
lol.png
Were those the ones you got from Jim?

Linn.... My ex and I built our house through the "Self Help" program in '78. Our group got 4 houses done in 6 months! I was pregnant at the time! We got in 2 weeks before I gave birth

I think the HFH is a great program too!

Well, got to clean up the kitchen and get to bed! D@mn I've had some long days lately!

Night All!

Yes, still up (d@mn it) My son posted this on FB.... thought you'd all enjoy it!

Wisconsin, according to Jeff Foxworthy: If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May, you may live in Wisconsin. If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't even work there, you may live in Wisconsin. If you've worn shorts and a jacket at the same time, you may live in Wisconsin. If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wr...ong number, you may live in Wisconsin. If "vacation" means going anywhere North of Milwaukee for the weekend, you may live in Wisconsin. If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Wisconsin. If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Wisconsin. If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' in the same day and back again, you may live in Wisconsin. If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you may live in Wisconsin. If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both doors unlocked, you may live in Wisconsin. If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Wisconsin. If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you may live in Wisconsin. If the speed limit on the highway is 70 mph -you're going 80 and everybody is passing you, you may live in Wisconsin. If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you may live in Wisconsin. If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you may live in Wisconsin. If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, you may live in Wisconsin. If you find 10 degrees "a little chilly", you may live in Wisconsin. If you actually understand these jokes, repost this so all of your Wisconsin friends and others can see, you definitely do live - or have lived - in Wisconsin

OK.... going to try this "sleep" thing again.... Night/Morning.

Good Morning All! What a bunch of weirdo's!

I'm in the hammock club too. I thought boy Steve's really gonna do Tday in style. Over eat then to the hammock strung up in the living room to watch the big game.
gig.gif
FT nubbers are a lot less chewy or so I've heard.
lau.gif
Speaking of, BFF and his Dad came out to hunt yesterday aft and took home a rubber/nubber. Don't think they'll need any help cuttin that one up.
roll.png
His Dad wanted more meat. Cind sounds like a lot of lost meat on that deer. BFF and I used to cut deer for a couple of his cousins. They always shot the crap out of them, 3-4 holes usually and they had the nerve to ask where all the meat was. One year I finally blew up and told them what I thought about their "hunting" practices. They actually listened to me and things got better after that. It seems we've created monsters you can't get out of the car or come out of the house without being swarmed by angry chickens looking for their treats. And they peck the crap out of the door when you go in. Spoiled snots! Back to the splittin pile today. There was a lot more there than I thought, thankfully. Think about 2 more days and I'll be done for the year. Unless the weather holds then I'll go out back and look for dead stands. Normally I mark the trees with paint before the leaves come off but that didn't happen this year. I hope everyone has a great Tday!

Morning all! (or night--as you have it!) Can hardly see out the windows for the fog this morning...well, since it's 29 I guess it must be frost in the air. Didnt think it was gong to drop so low last night...I think my cut up celery froze out in the "giant refrigerator." I know the parsley and cilantro did...I tried Jim's refreshing trick and ran the stuff under cold water until thawed. I think it worked! At least it isnt limp and slimy like it gets when it thaws by itself; I might be able to use it!
TOday I am making a one plate lunch at the center. Corn and bean salad, French Dip sandies and soup. THe people will be confused because they can usually choose between salad and soup--they get both and are thrown for a loop! It's kinda fun...
hide.gif

I told DH that you were cutting up the deer and he was amazed that "you knew how to do it"
smack.gif
He was all worried about "the proper cuts" and stuff...next time I am doing my own too! Actually if you dont have any sausage made I think $50 isnt a bad deal for a basketful of meat ready to drop in the freezer!
Yes those are the Blue Ams that I got from Jim. The ones that just started laying...but now stopped!
rant.gif
I got exactly 4 eggs...and I think they were all from the same hen too! Now she wont go in the coop so maybe she is laying someplace else?
Speaking of laying...I think the turkey hen is broody again! She has layed 12 eggs on top of the coop inside the shed and is sitting there every time I go out...what are the chances she will hatch eggs in December? Crazy bird! I have another crazy one too...the hen that has made all of the yard chickens this summer (4 clutches) Is missing...you know what that means...fluffy butts in the snow! Her last bunch are the size of robins and that is when she always abandons them to the care of the older "siblings" and makes a new nest! So I have a stall wall with 4 sizes of young chickens all lined up at night...it is adorable let me tell you! This is the batch with "Little Turk" and "The Roadrunner"

OOPS--typed too long--gotta go and let the birdies out...later everyone! Stay warm and have a great day! Terri O

(PS) yes FT if you hit the control/shift and a "mystery key" the post disappears...we just have to figure out that key!

good morning, sort of foggy here too, but too cold to really be fog.. frost ? fog/frost=frog ?

have all the birds F&W.. one sebastopol ran right to her nest when I turned her loose and we have an egg already..

TerriO, can turkeys hatch eggs in Dec ? yes..

Cind, I pirated the foxworthy/wisc post.. sent it to a bunch of people.. I can relate to all of it.. expecially the snow in the potholes.. In my driveway I always hope the water in the potholes will freeze before they evaporate..

when I cut up deer, I make mostly roasts.. shoulder blade roast, neck roast, chunks of rump meat roasts, leg roasts, or else I save just the tenderloins and grind everything into hamburger..
and I always save the ribs for slow baked BBQ ribs..

ETA: CC the first time I read your post I thought your DH brought up a hammock from the freezer!

Me too !!!! And I have my glasses on !!!! Hamhocks, Hammocks, Nubbers, Rubbers !!!! What's the difference ???

I was thinking more along the lines of a bunch of people who need to clean their glasses as opposed to weirdo's, DrH, but I'm certain there are plenty of people who would think us to be a tad weird.

It was froggy down here, but the sun came out and I see blue skies! Guess I'd better get out and give the coop a thorough cleaning. Have a great day, everyone!

hi, i have just about 5 minutes until the 2 loaves of bread and the pan of bread rolls are finished baking..

there was another goose on the nest and gone already. I am guessing another egg awaits..

Annie took Ken to the Chiropractor and she is not home yet.. Prolly at the restaurant sucking coffee..

I don't get anything done outside when she is gone..
gotta watch Mom..

2 minutes to go on the bread..

I would like to make the dressing today, it always tastes better on the second day.. I'll have to wait to see what Annie says.. Not that it matters..

.........jiminwisc.........

Afternoon Everyone.... Congrats on the free venzun Cind...if the backstraps were good then you got some nice steaks there. The only tough venzun is over fried....always tender roasted or grilled to perfection.

Hope everyone has a great turkey Day, and the Pack gets a win....ain't that right TO!

Brown Rice at the amish store is only .65 per lb. I thought that was way less than we used to pay at the regular store. Tried some yesterday with cream of mushroom soup and chicken breasts. Cooked up very nice.

No more deer here yet. The loggers have been awful noisy. Maybe better luck in the morning.

Spring Turkey and Black Bear applications are due Dec 10. Don't forget to get yours in. I should draw a bear tag this year (2012) sure hope so, I really enjoy bear hunting. I hunt by Wabeno. I love the taste of bear roasts, makes the whole house smell wonderful when roasting. It makes the best sausage too.

Later... bigz
