Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all--got back from cooking a little bit ago...pulled the brussels plants and brought one in to pick. I think I will string the rest up and hang them in the outside hall downstairs...pretty cool there. I am hoping that we can just eat them as we want without having to do any processing. I still have pickled ones left from last year...maybe pop one of them open for "game food" for DH! LOL! He is not crazy about the Cowboy Candy I made...he says it is TOO HOT to eat by itself!
barnie.gif
I have been trying to make something that is too hot for him to eat all of our married lives. Maybe I will let him have some crackers and cream cheese with it...

CC I HAD my glasses on! I think I am used to seeing ham hock and not hamhock! Yeah Spell check doesnt like that either...see guys we ARENT BLIND!
I got a call while I was at work that someone wants to buy my Royal Palm...I wonder how much I priced him at? Guess I will call the Mill and see. My neighbor wanted him to (he has a dud turkey) but he doesnt want to pay $35 for him.
I had a dead boy quail downstairs this morning! He must have had a heart attack going after the girls...they had food and water and he was just laying there with his legs sticking out...nice plump bird too. Guess I better get eating them. Tried out a little dry picking on him and it is really easy...maybe soon.

Well-I better go and get that brussels casserole going. DH said he would grill the turkey so that is a relief. We are having Gluten Free here too! I am sure he will miss the stuffing but since the dogs ate my first loaf of bread I only have enough croutons to make the Brussels casserole...AAWWWW! Maybe I will break down and stir up some stovetop for him...poor guy--I know that might be his fave part of the meal so? My client is bringing Pumpkin pie (purchased) and I am thinking of making some pumpkin pudding of some type for me...they can have some on their pie too if they want. Gotta find a recipe...

OK--later! Terri O

(PS) CC not a cloud in the sky here either and I had to move the jello into the fridge cause I thought it was going to melt!

Hwy BigZ--funny you should post at EXACTLY the same time as me...HMMM. I was thinking of you too cause I am enjoying one of those Special Vanilla Cokes here after work! Do you have any left? I have an idea...if you get a bear we could drive to a central location and I could bring V coke and you could bring a piece of that meat and we could trade...I have never tried it. I have heard that it is greasy? Is it dangerous hunting them? I dont think I could do any hunting...just because. BUt I sure do like to eat meat! What a quandary...Terri O

ETA: I need to go to an Amish store again...that is nice and cheap for rice! (which I eat a lot of now!)

In regards to dangerous hunting bear TO, I think it's more respect for them than dangerous. While we are baiting them and need to leave the area at dark when the bear hasen't showed yet, it's enough to stand the hair up on the back of your neck (making it so much fun) ...getting between a sow and her cubs is prolly the scenario one wants to avoid. I plan to hunt with a bow. Less than 25 ft from the bait. I'm excited already.

The bear is in the pig family. While it isn't the other white meat...it's basically dark pork and should be cooked the same. Glad you are willing to try it. If Im successful with a permit and a harvest, I'll be happy to share some.

I just do the nilla drops in reg coke...works for me! Thanks for the idea to try it. Funny I never thought of doing it.

Yep the bread rolls are better than any store bought rolls. We make them all the time. The pan doesn't survive long. You know that Jim, eh!

later... bigz

I wasn't insinuating that anyone was blind. I said maybe you need to clean your glasses, silly.

It was beautiful outside today. Wish it would've lasted longer. I got the coop all cleaned out & new wood chips down. Was not happy with this last batch of them, though. Very dusty and loosely packed. Glad we only bought one this time. Usually we buy at least 2 or more.

Well, I'd better get dinner on. I might be back later. I have to make a pumpkin pie yet too, so maybe not.

Sweet dreams and happy turkey day, all!

Yep, you really have to watch those bales of shavings....we annalize all of them on the shelf and buy the tight ones. Kinda like a bunch of celery...drop them on the scale when you find a big difference in bunches....you will find quite a difference.

Forgot to ask what you pay for GFF Terri. It is $7.95 per 2lb bag for red mill brand here. Gosh that's pricey bread and buns. Like you have a choice.

It's ok CC... I can't see like I once did and always wish i could see better now. That would be so cool to just clean my glasses. Ahhh the young eyes with all their power. Kinda like the old hi-power eyes of years before, that i took for granted but remember when I was young how clear everything was.

Later b

OK--Dh just said that I had to sit down..."a thanksgiving dinner for 4 shouldnt take you 4 days to prepare..." Ha--guess he never made one hey? Now we are watching a movie...something with Will Farrel.

Good night all! Terri O

My first batch of chickens went through -35 to -40 degrees with a drafty coop some 25 years ago. No heat! Did just fine. These new babies are 7 months old and in a new, well-insulated coop that's looking to be warmer than my (heated) sun room with no help from me. Don't think I'll be worrying much about them getting too cold.

Watch'a wanna know about landlord/tenant experience? I've had rentals for 30+ years.

Linn Bee Zone 5a-4b Wisconsin

I have a tenant that just signed for another year on Aug. 1st. She then emailed me 2 months later stating she lost her job in July (even when she told us the evening she signed that she had been working so many hrs) and is broke-needing to borrow money from others to pay rent. I reminded her that we based her qualifying on her alternative income which is still in place. She also didn't cash a check I gave (returned pet deposit) for almost 2 months. I know this isn't about the money, shes moving in with her mother in law who watches the kids-jsut easier for her. I reminded her that she has a legally binding lease. Didnt hear from her again and she paid rent. Today I rcvd an email from a neighbor stating she saw my tenant moving out-I emailed her and she said yes shes moving out-she has no money and should be out next weekend.

My question in, I know shes legally responsible to pay rent until we find a new renter-how much hassle is it to take it to small claims court? What are our obligations as landlords to try and clean and show the home over the holidays to show due-diligence in finding new tenant? (house is an hour away-would sell it if I could but cant with the economy the way it is) Any advice on how to handle this? THe whole pt in a lease is not having to deal with this except for once a year and regular maintance. Argh! now during the holidays we trying to figure out how to get it cleaned, painted and ready to rent/show etc.

Oh lord just let her go, she could have stayed there for another 3 months FREE! it would take that long before a court order to kick her out. tell her thanks. lol just work REAL hard on getting a new tenent in there. been there done that $5000 later we see no money.

good evening, I haven't had bear meat since 1964.. I remember it being very dark meat and tasting like pork..

I baked 2 loaves and a pan of bread rolls, then as long as I was at it and the oven was hot, i made a pizza, and as long as the oven was still hot, I made a large batch of dressing.. dressing is what I had for supper.. I think I outdid myself.. Mom ate a cup of tomato soup and a dinner roll..

found only 1 goose egg today..

Asplund came in yesterday and trimmed the branches away from our drop wire.. I told them as long as they were here they could dump their truck load of wood chips just off the driveway.

I wonder how that would work for floor covering in the coop ? I don't think it would absorb much, but if it were deep enough , the wetness might stay on the floor and the top would be dry..?

I'm going to give it a try.. I tried it in one of the breeding pens last year.. It was OK,, but most of it fell through the 1"X1" wire floor.. And raking out what was left when I cleaned the pen was not easy..

we did not ge our brussels sprouts out yet.. Annie is planning on cooking some for tomorrow, so she better get her a$$ in gear.

She said no to a lemon pie.. I would make one, but hers are so much better.. she said after tomorrow she will make one.. I guess I can wait.. but if I have to wait, she has to make a chocolate pie , too.. she always hooks Ken into stirring the pudding on the stove... I wonder what other kind of cream pie I could add to his job ?

...........jiminwisc.........

maybe I will swing by your house for dessert Raim.. I do not eat pumpkin or jello..

we are having birthday cake.. son is 50..

I took a lady to small claims court once.. the lawyer got his money from me,, I got a judgement from the judge that basically stated; Yup, she owes you the money.. Now it is still up to you to figure out how to get it out of her.. I never did collect.. the only satisfaction I got is when I read her obituary.

my sister in law used to pronounce merangue, mer jen goo
