Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening All... I'd try southside Tire In Antigo FT...they are the tire guys!

Yep, 9 is pretty young to expect them to understand the consequences that the flock has to suffer for their neglect. Not to be harsh at all Ken, just the way kids are. Good experience for you. Chickens are in my opinion alot of work...if you keep a close eye, and keep the flock in a good environment.

Trimmed the Black Cherry Tree by one of the coops today. Definitley gonna allow more light in the windows now. Amazing how much heat the passive solar can add to the coops.

Went to Bowler today and dropped off 10lbs of venzun for mett sausage (farmer). They do a wonderful job of boxing up everyones meat seperate and guarantee that you get your meat back. They need 10lb batches and when you see them keeping everything seperate...it's a good thing. They run a good buisness there. I trust them completely.

Later...the venzun pepper steak with fried potatoes/onions and brown beans is ready, and I'm hungry. bigz

Hi again! You are alive H&R!!! Working hard as usual I see...keeps you outa trouble right?
hugs.gif
And dont let her fool you guys...her kids are GOOD workers!
I tied all those little red red bows on the tree outside today...looks cute! Tomorrow I will add the red and green balls...I have to find my hooks...they are somewhere in the Christmas stash!
No one is home yet...I might have to eat this dinner all by myself! The roast is done so I turned it off to rest a bit...I hate an overdone roast. The potatoes are nearly done. I havent started the carrots or sprouts yet...they dont "wait" well! I suppose I could go out and lock up before dinner...I am sure the animals are "starving!" They always act as though they are anyhow.
JUst heard DDs truck...perhaps we will eat before DH gets here...maybe I will call for an ETA. Different ETA Jim

) Later all! Enjoy your dinners! FT I sure hope you are eating something better for you than M&Ms tonight...Terri O

Forgot to mention before...If i were closer CC, you could have a nip off my stainless flask! It gets used after hunting for a reward of sorts. Good for any pain too! I think you would agree...it's smoooth... Hope you heal fast.

WHAT THE H3LL ??? I just had a nice long boring post about tires again and lost it !!!!

Anyway, I forgot about Southside tires. Will call tomorrow. In the mean time the FF tire manager that quoted me $578 Tues Quoted me $601 today, for the bigger tires, also giving me $5 each tire. I was feeling better. Then I get a message from him. He read it wrong (AGAIN) and the tires were actually $199.95 each but he would give me the $5 each tire plus I have a rain check for buy 3 get one free. So now the total is gonna be $661. I'm bringing old tires home with me !!! I'll find something to do with them , although one will be for a spare since we don't have one at the time !!

They do sell the same tire at POMPS so it isn't one made just for FF. But I am going to call South Side. Oh and the tires maybe will be here on Friday. Have a tenative appointment.

I am planning on bring some of the venz to the place you go to Bigz. That was awesome. I was going to have some made at the place we are having them processed but the attitude of the woman that I dealt with was enough for me to almost take my deer back home with me !! The only thing I'm having them do with one of the deer is have them add beef to the burger. It was $1.89 lb extra.
So them I go to a little grocery store in Elcho to get their price list. They only charge $1.00 lb, wonder how they can do that !! They have that farmers sausage too at that place.
Chucks Boss gave us some that was made at this place, also very tastey !!!
I thought I would bring the scraps to a coupld of places to try different things. I can't believe the price differences at all the places. GEE WIZ ~~~ I don't believe the differences.

Just like Walmart, thought I would call them about tires, Just as high at the tire places !!! No thank You !!

Well, gonna send this before I lose it !! Oh got my Paint Rooster. Then I stopped at the Flea Market at the town hall to buy some home knit mittens for my Nieces birthday this weekend. ?The woman wasn't there but of course I started talking with a few different ladies and one thing led to another. Ended up bring the roo in to meet some of the people !!! LOL
Mr personality already !!!
Oh, TO no more M&M's but I had my left over Egg Foo Young from yesterday when I was to tired to come home and cook !! And egg drop soup. YUM on the soup !! Wish I could figure out how they make it so slimmy ??? Old eggs ?

I know to make it real yellow they use food coloring.

My DW and I got to talking yesterday night about 11pm and came up with some very similar answers. I guess I will keep DD9 in the right perspective, she is easily distracted by books and friends. She likes getting eggs and really likes tagging along with me as I do the chores.

Thanks for the responses, we do do household chores everyday after dinner for an hour or so then whoever is home gets to watch a little TV. We limit TV and video games for everyone and computer time is for some work and information gathering.

I would love for my girl to use a checklist and report the number of eggs she gets every day.

Anyways, looking forward to what will come.

Gotta buy some feed in the AM and take care of kid business.

KEN

good evening, not a lot to write about.. had an "interesting" evening with Mom.. got her into bed at 9PM..

Ken is having problems with congestive heart .. He fights taking meds.. won't be around long at that rate.. can't convince him to stop smoking either.. Annie almost had him weaned off of cigaretes right after he moved in.. then a social worker , in all her wisdom, informed Ken that he could smoke if he wanted to.. It was his right.. stupid b!tch.. I could have grabbed her by the throat.. too late, the damage was done..

I went out about an hour ago to check the heater.. It was not running.. the birds had the metal waterer swinging and it had tilted a little to one side.. most of the water is on the floor.. I have to fix the hanger so it stays in the center of the handle.. then it will hang straight and level.. a good job for tomorrow..

I have to go to Madison on the 9th (Friday), Just remembered I have to go back to my Internist at 3:30pm in Milwaukee. So it would have to be a quick pick up. I'd have to call TO and let her know when I was on the road headed to Milwaukee. Not sure how far you would want to drive Cind to meet me with the fish so they wouldn't have to sit in the car while I'm at the doc in Milwaukee. Hwy 83 & 94 to far?

We have a week to figure it out. Sorry, I just remembered my followup visit with the Internist this AM.

good winter wonderland morning, looks like about 2" of the slippery white sh!t and still coming down..

Annie just called, bringing County Market donuts for breakfast..

I have an answer to the fish dilema,,,,, sushi ,,,,

There is a peahen in the bale shelter this morning. I missed putting her in last night.. I am not too concerned about leaving the large birds out overnight at this time of the year..

One of the peacocks seems to be getting those tail feathers with the "eyes" on them.. I will have to check closer if I can.. Is it about this time of year for them to come on ? I don't know a lot about peafowl.. and I might be wrong about those feathers..

Now that everything has a good layer of snow on it, today would be a good day to take all the stuff off the trailer and store them..

Wow! FT is the first poster of the day? What's up with that? Didn't you even go to bed last night, woman?
lol.png
I was actually in bed by ten last night, and awake at 3! Didn't crawl out of bed until almost 5 though. I think I feel a nap coming on soon. I have to take one of my rabbits in to the vet today. She is currently in the house & acting very crabby.

Thank you, Bigz! You da best! I would have taken you up on that offer the other day, but I'd have had to impose on you to stay the evening.

So you finally got your flask back from FT, hey?

FT, I'd tell whomever you buy the tires from that they quoted you $200 cheaper. They are just trying to screw you over. If they want the sale, they'll agree to the price. Otherwise, move on & spend your $$$ elsewhere.
I'm glad to hear about your roo. Have you ever tried the mint M&Ms? OMG, they are divine! Way more addicting than the plain ones.

Ang, we have a super HD extension cord running out to the coop with a 6 outlet outdoor power strip on it, which everything plugs into (2 heat lamps, a heated waterer base, a heated dog bowl and 4 cameras. And yes, I know that that's 8, Jim). Knock on wood, but we haven't had any trouble yet, and we've used this setup for years. We are hoping to get electric run out to the barn in the spring, but we say that every year.
hide.gif
Also, we use a metal heated dog bowl for water for our banties & the rabbits. It is raised up on 2 pavers to try to keep wood shavings out. I have not had any problems with anyone falling in there yet, but they do get dirty fast & empty out quicker than the founts do. As for lugging water, I use gallon jugs (milk, tea) to transport water in, and keep a scrub brush in the coop to clean out the waterers instead of lugging them back & forth. HTH Oh, and I have a pet door on my coop. Works great! Except if you want to chase them in through the big door, they'll turn & run out the little one. Little $hits!!!! Mine I got at Farm & Fleet, and it has a wooden board that slides down & covers the opening so noone can get in or out. You just have to remember to use it when you're chasin' chickens.
roll.png
I don't know how secure it would be against raccoons, though. (My coop is inside a double fenced-in area). On a funny note, You should have seen my roo try to use that door when I first got him. He just barely fits through it. He has to cock his shoulders on an angle to fit. If those birds want to go out bad enough, they will figure it out.

Quote:
The only problem with that is if it is cold enough, wouldn't their water freeze up on them? If the heater has a thermostat or is plugged into a thermo cube, that would be better. And Dave, be careful that your heater is secure & that the chickens can't jump on top of it & knock it over.
Jim, you can just keep that white stuff. It is sunny and beautiful down here.
Well, gotta run to the vet. Enjoy the day!
