Magazines I read constantly are numerous and in-depth. I originally got started with mother earth news, but they didn't have what I truly was interested in, so I moved on to these :
My bills are somewhat easy...its the $3,500 land tax each year that is the bugger. I converted one toilet to composting, so I eliminate about $200 from my septic tank. I got rid of the satellite dish, so that is gone. I don't have to worry about garbage as I compost. I pay $300 for my truck every 6 months (I rarely drive it on the road). My car is $370 every 3 months, but will one day rid of that. I still pay for power, phone and internet which is a total of about $200 something every month. I'd like to rid of the net, and phone too. My power in the pole barn is via oil lamp, which I burn olive oil since I use that in my soaps too
Not typing much yet but have a few things to say....
Tatters.... Your living the life I wish I could! I am an herbalist and wildcraft what I can but back and hip issues won't let me do much anymore
I'm hoping my grandsons will take an interest. Now that we have a house I' m working on putting in herb beds. We are working on putting in solar and maybe wind too. We are working at becoming as self sufficient as we can. 1 family making a small carbon footprint my not do much in the greater scheme of things.... but at least you can die with a "cleaner conses (sp)" Do you press your oils or are the fusions? If you like I will share my "Green Goop" Recipe... It is a great healing salve!
I taught crafts for many years and have recipes for doughs, glues, paints all kinds of things... let me know what you may want. (in2-3 weeks when I heal)
Getting a kick out of the nervous spelling here. I have to admit that I used to be kind of snobby about spelling and grammar...simply because it came easy to me. When I saw that one of my sons was a terrible speller and I knew he was smart as a whip, I realized that spelling has nothing to do with IQ. I got him a sweat shirt that said: "SPELLERS OF THE WORLD: UNTIE!" and his teachers loved it.
If anyone here saw 'Breaking Dawn' movie, you will note that one poor woman was killed by the vampires for poor spelling and poor grammar.
Good Morning All! Tat think it's great the direction your going!
I used to be a lot better with my grammar and spelling but after working 20 years with people that I suspect were pushed through the doors of their school and I have been seriously affected. I used to wonder if they were at the head of their class.
And now I really don't care anymore I often like to butcher the kings english to suit me. At least I don't say Illinoise, dem guys, and dos tings over der. Orangs in the amazon? Thought they were in Sumatra/Borneo?
FT I liked that thread on the bumblefoot better than the one on BYC. Don't know why it just seemed better to me, same info. Think I'll give Peatwo a late xmas present before the eggs hatch from TO.
I'll put him in the tv for recouperation. Think not going to the store for even a day would kill you!
Bigz hope you get out in the woods and add some more veni to your larder!
Kicked butt and took names yesterday. Soup was very good but the noodles were kinda sad, not yellow enough.
Tomorrow the giardiniera will be ready to can and distribute to the deserving. Slept in this AM now I'm way behind!
good morning, I for one am not too worried about my spelling or grammar.. I occasionally hit a wrong key to make a word mispelled.. big deal.. I have the graciousness to overlook others' mispelled words and misused words.. It is just common courtesy..
I also do not consider myself to be lazy just because I use every labor saving device I can get ahold of.
I am retired, I don't have to work like I used to.. I did my time..
I knew/worked with some Amish and Menonites, they are not all saints..
