I sent my 4 chicks out to the coop about 30mins ago. Looks like I have a white leghorn, a welsummer/barred rock mix, and then 2 EE mixes. I think one is a rooster and the others hens, but I can't tell they are only 2 months old. We will see when we get some crowing going on in a month or so.

Weather continues to be mild and I would love to get some more little chicks in a month. Our biggest snow storm of the year up here was this past week when we got 2" of snow and now it is melting cause our temps are in the upper 30s again.

Getting close to February and looking forward to spring.

I had a 12 year old tell me at work yesterday that he was going to snap my neck. He is 5'4" and 120lbs. I was not scared. I have 10 inches and 100lbs on him... Not to mention I already broke my neck in my lifetime and wasn't scared then either.

Yup, that's her. She looked strong in the legs, so I figured now or never. She just dove right under mom & was gone. Cutest thing ever!

And that's one of her sibs showing off on momma's back.

The sad part too is if you're like me I don't have the foggiest idea of what I just typed !! lol

I got another chick hatched tonight !! Two down four to go. They weren't due until tomorrow anyway. I helped the one out and it is doing ok, Now that I looked at the calender I think I jumped the gun

The one I helped out this morning is a partridge looking color and the one that hatched out tinght looks yellowish but I think there may be some other color to it as well. It is still wet. They are from my lavender Silkie Rooster that I had shipped from NY and two black siilkie hens and a buff silkie hen. The newest one has a wide space by the comb, I shudder to think Roosters !!!

CC all I can say is

You're a pro already and haven't even had your bator for 48hrs !! You go Girl !!!

Of course I can't find my camera. Had it yesterday outside. I remember takikng it off the ATV handle bars. I think I may have left it in the truck or ??? if I knew I wouldn't be guessing. I don't have windows in my bathroom so don't suggest for me to look there TO.

Ok, finishing up some pudding then am going to try to get some sleep. Took half of a RX pain pill tonight, so we shall see.

Errr.... Just realized it was garbage night so I had to stop my post and pack that up... and clean the litter box

Humm... I'm beginning to wonder if I have a chip floating around in my hand.

It saw healing good, I can't feel the break anymore but now I have a bruise and feel and odd bump near but not on the break. Either that or I might have damaged a ligament.

Pain when fingers are pushed back.

I think the 2 injured chickens can go back to the coop. They both seem to be walking well now. All else seems to be well

FT ya gotta find that cam we need pics! Bigz Bob is with ya on spring. He's got a real bad case of cabin fever. I had to throw him out the door just to cool his jets. He barely touched my arm and I was bleedin like I had been in a knife fight. Yupp CC I was the one who brought a knife to a gun fight there's no way I can beat that pic! That's way too cool! I want a broody WAAAAA! Can't even imagine the cost of shipping a monitor and the chances of it showing up in one piece. But Tiki's been gone too long!

Susie"J" Glad things are going alright! That's a good thing. Had to laugh yesterday. I was putting the chicks in a box while I changed the bedding and they were throwin a fit and here came Btwo and Goldie they were practically peckin the door down. They could hear those chicks and had to know what was makin all that noise. Those 2 are inseparable. So I grabbed a chick and opened the door they both were turnin their heads and lookin at the strange little noise maker. They both came in and Goldie jumped up on the grate over the box which at first freaked out the chicks then she made hen noises and it got real quiet. It was so cute. The chicks were so happy with their new bedding there's 2 thin pieces of wood about 4" long and those are the new toys. Very interesting stuff.

I just came in from getting L's car out of the garage and here was Samborena on top of the qt feeder jar. It's good to be da king/queen! She's the first born and little bigger so I guess it's no surprise. Been waitin to see who would be the first up there.

The 4 chicks are huddled together in the coop, they haven't figure out how to get outside yet... They are afraid of everything and their "Mother Hen" doesn't even recognize them. I left the pop door open last night to provide the birds with an opportunity to have more space before I got up. Seems like all is well and everyone is happy with where they are at. No fighting while I was watching this morning.

Going to go work out and get ready for that 12 year old that wants to snap my neck...

ok those STUPID silkies (looks like 3 of them) have gone broody, which means I'm not gonna get eggs out of them come end of March, cause lets face it, if they don't hatch out chicks when they go broody they will stay broody. SO If I put eggs under them NOW will the chicks be warm enough when they hatch? it's only gonna be Feb 16th ish. I would rather NOT take care of them more than putting a light in there. stupid silkies!

I gotta go before I say something not nice (about my mother)
