Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Still snowing & blowing like a son of a gun down here, but at least the flakes look like they're getting a little bit smaller. This is some wicked ugly weather we're having. Be careful out there, everyone, and stay warm.

Saw this on CL:
Newly hatched Aracannas, Black Stars, Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, and Red Stars.
Chicks hatched on Feb 8 are $3 each, chicks hatched on Jan 12 are $4.25 each.

Celtic... this guy owns a farm near us and does some deliveries to milwaukee too. Nice guy and birds... think Carol has or had one of his aracaunas.

Hey who has the chick tv? This fish tank with chicks in it? How big is the tank you have chicks in? Inquiring minds want to know!

I think we all have some sort of chick TV! Mine is a 55 gal tank. Works pretty good but I think the 40 breeder would work better because there is more surface area than height.

It is NASTY out there! Blowing like crazy ans still snowing here too. I was out to do chores and those Blue Ams are really well, chickens! THey diddnt even come out of their coop. The big coop was really warm and many of the birds that live outside went in there to warm up. The ducks were right out playing in the water immediately...I have no idea where the geese are. They didnt come to eat. I am not usually too bothered by weather with this nice big hill to block everything but the NorthEast wind...that must be where its coming from today because it is just howling at my window here. I can feel it coming in too...my insulated drapes are pulled shut and I can still feel it! BBBRRRR!
THe horses sure look funny with the snow stuck on their fur. I am glad that they havent started to shed yet. Thought I might have to blanket them today with the wind but none were shivering at all.

I have to think of something for supper...no idea and not hungry for anything either! That makes it really hard to cook. Maybe I will make some chicken...I guess I oughta find out how many are eating tonight. I feel like I need a nap!

CC I should give that ad to my neighbor...he has a ton of really old tractors...could use the $$ to I imagine! So are you wanting to hatch some of Terri's Famous Barnyard Mixes too? Or are you thinking of trading off our roos for the Foolish hatch? If we are going to do that we'd better get it together and get it done! I think I am getting another Dom hen from Carol so at least Moose will have two....

No, but thank you on the barnyard mixes. I hear they're mostly roos!

Yes, I'm still thinking about trading roos. I do owe Bf4 some aussie eggs. And by the way she is going, I don't know if she'll be able to wait until next year.

I know we should get 'er done soon............I guess I'm just a little chicken to give away my Moosie. DH won't shed a tear to see him go, but I might. He is by no means a people-friendly roo, but he is by no means agressive at all. I don't think he has a mean bone in his body, although he can dole out a fearsome stink eye. At least I have 7 of his offspring, so hopefully some of his boys will be as mellow as he is, if not better. These chicks have been the most well behaved chicks I have ever had. They are so calm with human contact, it is unbelieveable. Hopefully you will have the same luck with his offspring, and score on the Dom hen from Carol! She is awesome! Thank you, Carol!

I am thinking of trying to collect a few eggs from the buffs before he goes, though, and after the incubator is empty. I only got 2 buffoniques from Alice's hatch and they are so cool looking, almost a wild bird pattern to their feathers. But if they both wind up to be roos, I won't be too happy. Plus this weather stinks!
