Hi John I'm Joe and I'm a chicken-aholic. I haven't hit Barred Rock bottom yet but I'm trying. They say that the first step is admitting you have an addiction. Welcome CN5 please join our circle and share your affliction. It falls upon sympathetic ears. I laughed sooo hard and long at your last post! Ah the ingnorance of newbies! It caught me unawares too! We didn't tell you because we're afraid that you'd run away if you knew the truth and you'd end up putting dead sticks in the ground and nurturing them until they rotted away. This way you get to grow as a real person, if you see the beauty of it then you'll have them till your a dead stick in the ground. Now go enjoy the rest of your life!

I get on the puter and the sun comes out...go figure! I got the deviled eggs and the jello salad done for tomorrow...we are going to my brother's place in Appleton. I am glad that I dont have to cook here! He is making one of the hams that they get for Christmas from his FIL. I LOVE home grown ham! We are out of pork here and I am anxiously waiting to see if this is spring for sure...then I will get a few piglets and grow them out. MMMM--pastured pork--there is nothing better!
The little black chick that hatched yesterday from the cold nest got outside somehow and was dead in the wet today.

He hatched from the 3rd floor of the nests and probably fell out the back...second one that got out on there. I think this hen just wants to sit; she doesnt really want the kids! On the other hand all the rest of the babies are doing very well. I am going to start taking out the new ones next week if it is nice. It will be good for them to get out on the grass.
Well--I do believe I am going out to see if my tiller wants to work in the garden...talk to you all later! Have a great Easter! Terri O

Do any of you in central wi have silkies? My daughter wants them so badly, but we don't need 15 or 25!

If you have them, do you have any for sale?

Hi I'm Becky and I am a chicken-aholic. I go through shakes if I can't get a fix in time and also screaming fits. I'm getting treatment but I'm only on step one. My broodie is going to help me with step two.

Hi I'm Cheryl and in the same boat as everyone here! Looks like everyone has been busy this week-we had 3 units to clean and get ready for new tenants moving in April 1st-one unit needed new carpet and paint top to bottom. Finished those all by Wed and then hung out with the kids since they were on spring break this week-our youngest informed us that we were supose to do FUN stuff on break!

Thursday we went to a retirement community with the 4-H and the kids visited and shared their animals with the residents-we took our 10 cochin and 3 cockoo Marans chicks-the chicks were falling asleep in people's hand-everyone had a great time!

Friday am 2 of our 3 foster pups started their trip to their forever homes out east and on the way back from dropping the pups with another person who was transporting them further we picked up the 4 roosters Terry O mentioned. They didn't look like what we were told they were but they were free. The rooster we kept is still freaked out and under quarantine until all the bugs are gone(at least 30 days, if not more).

Hope everyone has a good Easter-we are hosting and are working on cleaning our house and getting everything ready for tomorrow-we have about 23 people coming and everyone is bringing something to add to the meal. Right know we are dying eggs(most from our hens) and setting up tables. Food gets made tomorrow morning!

Is anyone thinking of going to the 2010 Walworth County Fur and Swap in Elkhorn WI on April 10, 2010? It is from 7 am to 10am at the Walworth County Fairgrounds, Hwy 11 East, Elkhorn, WI. admission $1, children under 12 free. Contacts are Dale Wheelock at 262-882-3633 or Bob Kretschmer at 414-254-6853.

BBCB did my PM go through with my address? It was kicked back to me saying I needed a subject but the page was blank. If it didn't let me know I'll try to rewrite it. Also if it didn't that's a shame because it was the coolest I ever wrote you should have read it. If it did then I might have stretched the truth a bit. H&R that's a cool thing to do bet the residents loved it! Got tons done today and am currently stripping old line off some of the reels. The mono gets changed yearly if not more often. I haven't changed my musky line in years. It's gonna happen this year, don't want to lose the fish of a lifetime. We're heading up to the camper for the first time next weekend. Going to spend a lot more time up there this year and for years to come.

have your silkies grown up together or have been together for some time if so, they should be fine. they will get in to tiffs once and awhile but not a problem. I've kept 6 or so together without any problems
