Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Very Toasty Morning All! I'm likin the new stove! Need to get Cind's on the pallet today. Only a few loose ends to finish up otherwise. FT had the perfect names for your piggys last night but that was last night.

Got a new paint job on the ground yesterday evening. Maybe an inch. Laura mentioned to my dad the other day that it was our anniversary he asked how many years. I said I think it's 10 or 12. It's 6 and I knew that. hehe We both like to roll dates together so today is AnniVal. Mom has 2 blocked arteries that they can't do anything about until she gets stronger and has had 2 heart attacks since Thanksgiving, she fell and broke her pelvis about a month ago. And is fighting pneumonia. Sheesh! Like you said Cind hope for the best prepare for the worst. She's hanging on but.... On a much lighter note I made a cardboard cover for one of the chick feeders and twice now they have knocked it completely off. OMG if it's laying in the brooder they just go nuts. I mean the evil cardboard fell from the sky and is certain to kill them all!

Where the heck has Tomski been? One drawback to the new stove is that it holds 24" pieces, the old stove could handle up to 27" so a lot of the wood is too long. Need to invent a cross buck to saw them off. Something else to do in my spare time.

One of these day I'm gonna get some of that. Spare time sounds like fun! Susie think I have around 10 young roos to choose from if your interested. Have some very handsome stock! Six are very easy to control. All you need is a piece of cardboard.

Yup me again, that would be great. Maybe at the Bash this year? You pick one out for me. Thanks :)

Wow! Lots of chatty Cathys today. I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

DrH, all the best wishes for you & your mom. That is a rough position to be in.

TO, that really stinks about the bator.

I'll try to watch for another if you want. I hope the egg will be ok.

And what do you mean the time went by fast? Bf4 doesn't seem to think so.

MLH, good luck on the hatch, you bad, bad neglectful mama!

Congrats on the broody, Ken.

Nice flowers, TO. Cute idea about the mini garden. Too bad weeds don't come in miniatures, hey?

Susie, pick one out for you? DrH will probably bring them ALL for you now that you gave him to green light.

And one more...

She has striped legs into her feet. Very distince differnt colors. One of her wings still has cream white stripe. It will be interesting to see what she looks like grown up!

CC... did you ever name your Austraniques and Orpaniques? Orpalorps? Buffalorps? Buffaloes...?

Hello fellow Wisconsinites-
I have been lurking for a while here on BYC, but I am "coming out of my shell". I am getting everything lined up for the Easter hatch-a-long. I didn't notice a very big Wisconsin presence. If you are planning on hatching eggs around that time you should sign up and "represent". I would hate to see people that follow the Vikings and Lions beat Packer fans at anything.

Well hello there &
welcome-byc.gif
to the Cheesehead thread! I saw you here earlier. We're glad to have you join us.

Actually we are going to be having an April Fool's hatch here. Probably 2 of them. Some will hatch out for April 1st, others will start on April 1st.

I hear you on the idea of being shown up by either of those teams "fans", though.

Happy V-Day everyone !!!

I got two new little ones today ! My EE's that were due to hatch on Saturday that didn't hatched yesterday or today sometime !!!
Talk about bad chickie mama's hey?
DH took over my recliner and living room because his TV isn't working right (I think it is the connection to the converter box actually) so I haven't checked the bator since Sunday. I figured they were dud's.
Well, I went to shut it down today and low and behold there were three chicks. One had got itself stuck in the turner, yes i left the turner in but not turned on !!! Learned that from Jim.
Reason I did that is because I was trying to hatch out two Dutch bantam eggs and thought the turner tray would allow them more humidity.
Anyway, one just have just hatched because it was still wet and the other one was hoping around like he owned the place. Shoot did I just say he???? Geez !!

Anyway, they're mom is an EE and the dad is either a lavender Orp or a black australorp. I'm thinking daddy is the Lavender Orp since the chicks are yellow !!! Big compared to silkie chicks !!!

Might just have to hatch out some more !!! Then breed them back to each other and get lavender EE'rs. Basically Mutts but should be interesting to see what I get out of them !!

Will post pictures soon.

Ps the Dutch didn't hatch. i opened them up and one had a huge yolk still attached and the other probably made it to lock down. i posted the problem on the hatching thread and someone suggested that because they were pullet eggs could be the problem. So we'll keep trying. Actually I really don't want to breed them if they are that hard to hatch...... Where does this insanity end ??
