good morning, half java'd up.. stalling going outside until it warms up a few more degrees..
no snow here.. that storm went way south of us, and the next one looks like it is going way north.. sorry people, I guess you have to live right..

Nora is really good for Prince.. he loves to tag along with her.. He is actually loosing weight and he is not quite as barral shaped as he was.

I might try sending a picture to cheese heads .. I have no idea which one.. It will be any one I can get to load.

H&R you jolted my memory when you mentioned "pullets"
I got a post yesterday from a woman in California, on another web site that she had hatching eggs for sale.. she said that they are "sort of small" yet because they are pullet eggs.. and she wants only $40.oo/dozen and $25.oo /shipping.. No thanks, lady..

It seems to have worked.. and I actually got the pic that I wanted..

these are the two brooder pens that I mention occasionally.. they are now my breeder pens..

they are ten feet wide, four feet deep, and 3 feet high, with 24" legs.. and the two outside panels are sliding doors that slide to the center

I carry them around with forks that I built for my tractor bucket ..

those two buff chickens are my "star boarders" 6 years old.. I keep them for emergency setting.. they will sit on anything I put in a nest..

Good snowy morning to you! (since DrH cant say it I will!) DH came back in this morning and said "there is more snow than I thought!" I guess he must have thought I was lying last night when I said there was at least 4" on the post (like a little cap) last night; and it was still coming down! So it is beautiful out there today! I am hoping that the roads clear up a bit more...I am planning on going to my son's place and taking him out to lunch. I hate to cancel on him again cause I did that last time! Besides I need to take him his birthday presents and his card! We are on a county highway and the plow has only been past one time...weird.

Those chicks sure are cute BBP! I like the caption that Apyl suggested...yes it looks just like that to me too!
Bigfam--I thought you had given me ONLY wheaten eggs...now I see that I must have had. That makes me even more sad! The three I tossed early on that werent fertile must have been the other 3 wheatens then.
So cool about the plucker Cind...I'd rather gut too. I would assign "someone" to make me one but I do so little butchering here that it would probably be a waste.

I think I will upload some of my snow pics and share them with you all...since those that didnt receive this lovely present are probably deeply hurt! I hope you get your pics figured out too Jim!
Eli and friends were actually sleeping in a chick pile this morning and when I went to get their picture they all jumped up! Time to move the towel back again too...they are staying more on the other end away from the light now.

Good moring to everyone also No snow here. The kids are on a 4 day break from school for some reason lol and they are all ready annoying each other. I'm hoping to finish my coop today or tomorrow, I just need to add one more piece of plywood to the roof and the two ends. I really wish the ground wasnt frozen , I cant wait to get my posts up and see the chicken's area all done.

Here is a quick look for you....

I just hate when I dont do much of a "fall clean-up!" Glad to hear we will be back to mud-season by the next week! My beagle is laying on the couch snoring up a storm and whimpering...must be a good/bad dream? LOL!

Lovely pics Terri! We have about an inch of it here, a sticky snow that clings to the trees. Looks kinda nice, but am excited about the prospect of a very early spring.

Sorry to hear about Cassie, H&R. That's always difficult.

Chick season is coming up I see.....I started perusing the auction and swap threads, taking notes for when I am ready to fire up the bator. I am bound and determined to try ducks!
