Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

FT -- I hope the eggs come today. Were they shipped USPS or Parcel Service?

The bator is holding temp between 99-100, I am going to add a half cup of water today bring up the humidity.

Things are looking good!

Good morning--I slept from 8 until 8! I feel a little better today, at least my body isnt aching--yet. NJ I thought the very same thing when I saw that pic of Remington! I even showed it to DD26 and she thought the same thing...funny that he isnt the REAL troublemaker--leave it to the youngest! I love seeing the pics of the little kids with the chickies.
I took a couple pics of dinner last night...my English muffins certainly didnt taste at all like I imagined they would taste!

These are the GF muffins...didnt pay attention to put the right side up--sorry! They were very dense, more like a biscuit in taste too...might have been because I put a Tbsp of soda in instead of a tsp! LOL! I will give it one more try cause they were so darn easy to make! Below is the dinner with wheat muffies...that was DD26s dinner. All in all it was VERY good. I just LOVE Hollandaise sauce with my own eggs. I maybe had the only 2 year olds who routinely asked for broccoli with "Holiday" sauce for dinner!

More later...gotta go cook! Have a fantastic day! Terri O

Terri O -- the holandaise sauce looks good. I havn't been brave enough yet to try to make it homemade yet. I love it on asparagas, maybe some day I'll give it a shot.

good morning, and slow down !!! miss one day and had 10 pages to read..

DrH is right, if you live in a frosty area, keeping the barn empty will make it fall apart from frost very fast..first the foundation goes, and then the rest of it.. If you have the room for pasture, maybe you could rent the barn to somebody for heifers.. let them maintain the fences..

I would think that those people could find homes for those chickens closer to Cali.. It is great to help out, but let common sense prevail.. of course I realize we are talking about Cali.. I imagine they are expecting "forever" homes for these chickens.. how the heII are they going to expect to monitor that many chickens scattered all over the country ? My advice would be to sell/give them to Campbell"s soup.. that is prolly where they would have ended up in the first place, after their egg laying days were over..

dog carriers are not the most efficient mode of transport for that many birds.. they are going to have to be fed and watered several times throughout the trip.. how are they going to get at the crates stacked in the center without unstacking the ones around the edges ?

I would not want to be the driver of that van after a couple of days on the road.. peeeuuuu..

just one more thing.. are you sure it is not some sort of scam?

had some more comments about other things, but forgot.. I think I will comment as I read so this doesn't happen..

TerriO to lighten up the muffins, or any quick bakery other than yeast raised bread, try adding a teaspoon or two of baking soda with a couple of tablespoons of vinegar.. add the soda last of the ingredients..

I tried making "Holiday" sauce once .. It turned out like melted butter.. didn't taste to great either..

I would try it again, maybe with a different recipe/instructions, ?? hint, hint...

I think turkey eggs would make great "Holiday" sauce,. eh? I have lots of them right now..

the chickens in the brooder/breeder pens are starting to lay more eggs.. even without the addition of laying formula.. I think it is time to start feeding them in ernest..

who doesn't like baby guineas? they are much smarter than chicks..

Good Morning All

Everybody was behaving themselves this morning . They were just sitting on their rugs being quiet. Havent heard a peep out of them. I gotta get that pen built for them outside though. LOL

TO the food looks delicous Yummy Glad you are feeling a bit better. Hope everyone is on the mend now. Cindlady hope you get a good 'nights' rest.

Bf4me did you try vitamins for chick? Is she shaking head like vibrating? Or slower like someone pecked her on the head? Is she circling? Is she buzzing?

Apyl looks like a blue Andalusian to me. I see it has dark legs. I think Andalusians do have dark legs. How lucky you got a blue one.

OK gotta go read some more.

Hey tiki.. Cochin chick shakes her head likes something's niggling at her. She eats and drinks, but is always having this tick happening. I didn't notice it right away because she acts ok otherwise, but it is just weird the more I watch her. She doesn't seem to be circling or buzzing, but she does peck in the corner at nothing more than the rest. I do think guineas are ugly. I know, I'm a freak in this forum! But I'm new to birds and even chicken feet creep me out a bit yet... And turkens with there yucky chickie neck showing... I will accept all ribbing and harassment now on my fowl phobias.

Here is what I got so far on the moving in a cargo van,,,, https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/634260/moving-chickens-across-country-in-u-haul ,,, doesnt really sound like it would be a problem if someone was determined. The flying sounds ok too, to me, if someone wanted to pay the extra shipping costs.

HI Bf4me I will check in my chicken book and get back to you. Have you been giving her vitamines? Polyvisol drops would be great (without iron) I wonder if you could check in her ears and clean them out? this may not be possible.
