Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

here is a shot I took today.. those two weren't the least bit cooperative.. I followed them around for 29 minutes until I had to settle for this shot..

the peacock stands a full five feet tall with his tail up.. the turkey only THINKS he is that tall, also..

uploading pictures is really going to teach me patience.. it takes a full 2 minutes and then some ..

How do you know you don't like spinach if you never tried it? How do you know you don't like guinea keets if you never saw one?

guineas can be tamed down, but it would take some work to make a pet out of one.

they are excellent table fare.. and if you like chicken soup, you would love guinea soup..

as for the noise, I love all the noises all my birds make.. it makes the barnyard come alive.. I do not understand why people complain about noise made by birds and animals.. might as well just have a few stuffed toys setting around..

FT, please tell me you really don't kiss chickens on the neck (or anywhere else) .... gross !!!!!!!

ETA: guineas are wonderful for wood-tick control if left to freer range..

I used to pick as many as 10 ticks off myself after mowing my yard.. I have had only 1 or 2 total in the last 8 years..

Nothing like confusing the sources...

Terri thanks for the eggs. We had 7 of 12 come through unscathed. 2 of them seem to be covered in white from other eggs, can I still put these in the bator? How could I clean them up? Sandpaper?

The boys will be putting them in the bator in a few hours.

Thanks for the help,

KEN

yes, as long as they are not cracked, you can try to hach them..
here is where I differ from most,, I am not a big fan of sanding an egg.. I would wash the egg.
I wash most of my eggs that go into my incubators.. Bluhm is greatly over-rated.. IMHO

If I only had the space that Bf4m has I'd love some !!

You're joking, right?!?!?!?!? You've got 80 freakin' acres, woman! How much more "space" do you need?????

I'd be happy with half of that. Or a quarter even. Sheesh!

Cind, I hope you got some well deserved rest. And I hope Jasmine's foot heals up fast for you too.

Apyl, cute kiddos. I only have my chicks on paper towels for the first 2 or 3 days, but that is up to you. If they aren't falling over anymore & seem to have strengthened up their legs, they should be ready for the pine shavings.

No kidding, hey, DrH???? Well, there always is the mailman.

Too funny about Goldie, and perfect wording on her being in your toolbox: "oh, crap!"

Tiki, I think 3 drops is the dosage for adult LF.

MLH, all I can think of right now is Isabella, but that's a mouthful.

Someone has got to post a picture of themselves kissing a turken on the neck! If no one does I might have to. Funny stuff.
and just a note: guineas are ugly, horrible, loud creatures. But a guinea keet is pretty adorable. Somewhere between a chick and a duckling on the cuteness scale.
