She's having a bit of an off day, she would love to go home, is tired of being in the hospital but knows she is not up to full strengh yet. They were transfering her to a room on the PT floor and sounds like she will be there at least 4 more days... my dad was also having a off day to and I had the pleasure of dealing with it

. Long story short our day started off to a bad start this am and hasn't gotten much better. Such is life.

On a different note, our pup is having problems adjusting to the other dog being gone. Now when we ask her to crate up(at night or when we leave the house) she trys any thing to avoid it so that takes longer and I don't want it to turn into a struggle. At night she whines off and on and now needs to go outside early morning- feel like we are back to puppy days and she will be 2 years old in Aug. I am usually the one who hears it so I haven't had a good night sleep in who knows how long. Trying to come up with something that she can have only when crated that she really wants!

I don't know if you're interested, but I saw this & it just broke my heart to think of him going to a pound.

Old dog to loving home please (muskego wisconsin)

You mean to tell me I've had a bladder infection all a long? I thought all of this was real! Whew what a relief! FT hope your Aunt improves! Scary stuff! Going to try a can of nectar, haven't had a beer in almost a week and a half. Or is that the infection talking? Great now I'm going to be in the clinic every other day.

CC no she didn't get morphine. She was at her eye doctor appointment when she had the stroke. It was not a full blown stroke thank goodness. We're not even sure she had a stroke. I forgot what they called it. I guess the hospital psychosis is very common with seniors.
I talked to my sister finally this afternoon and the PT department thinks she should go to a nursing home upon discharge and the doctor said she should go to a rehab center and could build up some strength and then possibly go home and have home health care come in. They are very obliging that if she stays in the hospital for 3 days that medicare will pay for the rehab facility. My sister called and talked to the doctor and said Auntie E is not willing to do any of it !!! No Kidding !!! Geezz, My poor sister. It will be just a matter of time before Auntie E Blows her top !!!!
If you all would have known her, she was always very independent. Never got married or had children. She is going to put up a fight until the end. I tried calling her today but she didn't answer. She can't hear well either.

She wants to die in her house !!! But doesn't want anyone to come in. She thinks they will rob her. Two years ago when she was admitted she was evaluated for competency and she passed. The guy told her she was very intelligent. We have never heard the end of that one.
It reminds me of my Ex boyfriends little old Mom. She was like 90 lbs. When she walked she shuffled. Well she was at the geriatric assessment center and they asked her to walk for them. She got up off the table and I swear she ran across the room.

It is amazing how they can be one way one minute and the next minute they are like infants.

So Auntie was fine this morning. My niece brought baby Addie up to see her.
Tonight could be a whole new ball game. She has two dogs that are older and she does not want to live without her dogs. I can relate to that but ???????

Anyway, My little piggy girl Ellie/ LuLu or what ever I'm going to name her is getting spayed on Monday. She is a little Sh!t. She is getting friendlier but not as quick as the little boy Ernie/Elmer/Larry or what ever his name will be.
I was thinking of calling the little girl Esther or Agnes. My Aunties first and Middle name. Kind of reminds me of her personality. LOL'
Just kidding sort of !!!

Just had to show you how big Moose's babies are getting. Now if only it would get a little nicer out so I could get them outside! (yes, I know it's kinda blurry. Sorry!)
They are just the sweetest and most well-behaved chicks I have ever had! I can't believe how calm & well mannered they are. And friendly. So far, anyway.....

This is my Chip. DH named him because he is a chip off the ol' block: just like their daddy, only better. I'm definitely keeping him. He's a snuggler.

And here is one of the orpaniques. It will be interesting to see what they'll look like when they're older.

Holy Snowy Evening!

Been watching the weather news down south. A twister touched down in Dickson TN near Nashville. Scary times for my friends down there....

FT-so sorry to hear about your Auntie. She sounds like an amazing woman and quite the character! I love your Auntie stories! It's very hard to help them when they don't want help but need it to survive. You are going to have your hands full with that one. My MIL will be the same way. She is just an independent as your Auntie but was raised in the south. Mississippi. Right in the town that Katrina wiped off the face of the planet. She was in tears watching the film footage. She still remembered all the land marks and knew whose house was whose. Granted that was from way back in the day, but still....Anyway, we have talked about what to do when it's time to place her in a home. All I know is that whole senario will not go well.

H&R-Sorry to hear your having a tough day. Hope your mom gets better soon.
Have you thought about the super terrific doggielicious Hot Dogs? Does Ellie even like hot dogs? Those might be a good crate treat. You might have to go back to baby crate training to get her back on track. Aussies are very smart and I'm sure she will get on the right track soon.

CC- Why would you open up a can of worms talking about morphine?
hu.gif
I personally hate the stuff. Makes to sick to my stomache. Luckily I was only on it right after the open heart surgery when I was in ICU. When I went down to the CCU I was put on Percoset. NOW that is one fine drug! I liked living in Percoset Land, Luckily the sent me home with Vicodin. I hate Vicodin almost as much as I hate morphine. I ended up taking it more for the pleurisy I developed then the pain from the surgery. Mostly Advil worked way better for that.
Anyway, that post for that poor old dog makes me want to get him....I hate that people just toss old dogs aside. I get that he tried but still....If I had the money I'd open an Old Dog Rescue where old dogs would get to live out their lives in bliss.

DrH- I have a BTB story for you!! So this morning as I was making the fixin's for beef stew aka dinner, I noticed Mr. Abby Normal messing around the washer. I have a front loader that I leave to door open on. Anyway, Bubs was messing around and hopped in it and was sniffing around. He was not really paying to much heed to what he was doing and in mid sniff, the drum rotates!!! The light bulb when on in his little cat brain. He started to play or whatever it was he was doing and he got the drum really going! He looked like a hamster on one of those wheels....*sigh*
This cat is not normal!!!

Dang!, the battery for one of the smoke detectors is chirping driving the dogs insane....gotta run.....

Wow, you're lucky! After I got out of ICU, they put me from morphine right to tylenol 3. All I can say is "I don't think so"!!!! It was a *itch, but I finally had mom smuggle in some regular tylenol, which did a better job (barely) & cost a heck of a lot less. Oh my word! I think they were keeping the good sh!t for themselves!
