Got one of my sole survivors in my lap; little Brahma had pasty bum, and also trying to right a splayed leg. I'm using an elastic hair band as a hobble. Do I have to take the hobble off to see if it can keep the leg under itself, or will it be able to stand with the hobble on? Don't wanna take it off prematurely as its a trick to get it on.

I am going to shamelessly ask for a vote on this Fine Art America contest: http://fineartamerica.com/contests/national-tv-photo-contest.html?tab=vote&artworkid=3481360 Many thanks. It's an egg photo!

Well, alright, here it is...

Evening everyone,
Hope ya all had a good chilly day, it was windy here.......
Love the egg picture, and especially love all the baby pictures.............cutest chicks awwwwwwwwwwww
Anyway we played around with a few idea's this afternoon for wheels for my coop........argggggggg much more frustrating than I imagined it would be, seemed simple enough, but no long pieces of round stock steel, no rebar, and the holes in the wheels are too small for what I want them to do.......... this coop weighs about 300 lbs so the wind don't knock it over, it's always blowing like a madman out here, every year like now we have a zillion shingles off our roof, first year I bought this house the wind took half my roof, so we made it very sturdy, meaning very heavy........... so I'm gonna post p[pictures in hopes that someone can come up with a plan for wheels, my babies will be ready to go out before I get it set, at this rate............. grumble grumble grrrrrrrrrr anyway here's the coop, it has a lift hatch on 1 end to open or close them in, above the ramp to the basement,. it has 60 inches of roost space inside, and it has 4 nest boxes so later I can keep a few girls separate, and its approximately 50 inches wide by 60 long and about 6 feet high..........

Amy- voted.

Wow everyone one must be hungover from Friday Fish Fry..... where the heck is everyone?????

I cannot wait to see how the DD's turkey hunting experience ends up. I cannot see her sitting still for so long and NOT talking.

Nice pic apyl!

Cool coop GR! I want one! Just needs wheels?...Some large bolts?

Well, got the temp and humidity (65%) stable. If Jim says that's good, good enough for me. However, nothing seems to be happening. OK, a little early, but I would think I would at least see some rocking or SOMETHING.

One of my hens was doing a weird half cough, half sneeze thing when I locked up... very loud! she looked a little "runny" too.

I would have brought her in, but the "hospital room" has turned into a brooder. I'll have to find another place to put a hospital cage. Hope she's OK tomorrow.

Welcome newbies!

May stop in later, if not, Night!

Hi all!
Oh where to start! Well, it's my Anniversary today and DH is in Madison at the Horse Fair....No steak dinner for me tonight! Ah well, we'll make it up. It's been a whole 10 years since that cheesy chapel in Vegas where we got hitched! I can't believe it...seems longer.....maybe that's because I can never remember when we got married! I had to look at the old marriage certificate....

*sigh* ah the dog update. I know I left you on a cliff hanger there....Em is better today. Still not eating well. Or I should say he wants to eat all the "treat" type stuff. He will eat canned food so I got some cans for him. He won't eat hot dogs ate the moment so I got some of those Greenie Pill Pockets. Those he likes... He also will be "up" and "normal" like, then kinda just crash into a nap...
Yesterday when Dr.D called with the results, the upshot was to observe him for 24 to 48 hours. His urine had blood and billirubin in it. I was surprised by that one. The billirubin concerned his Doc since the enzyme that was elevated was the worst one to be elevated. It can indicate an acute on set or the beginning of an onset of a number of things that are liver related badness.
After discussing what additional diagnostic work would be needed, and since the weekend is looming I decided to have him rechecked today.
So, Emmie went back in to get more done. His fever was down but still at 101.8. We did another x-ray-that came back fine and we re drew blood to another CBC and also to re check his liver function. We also are going to check for Lepto titers. That will take 5-7 days to get back though. So far we have no idea what he did/ate/drank/got into or anything like that. It could be some form of toxin either from a bug, a plant, or a rhodocide (sp). It could be Lepto although Dr.D said that Lepto normally heads to the kidneys first but that sometimes the liver is effected first although that is not common. So, with Lepto being a possibility, she added another antibiotic to his list of pills he's on. I had to get more pill pockets....
He's the only dog with symptoms, so I'm crossing my fingers that the others don't get ill.
So Emster has more pills to take and he is being more spoiled then her already is. He is feeling better this afternoon....he chased Ichabod so that is a good sign that he's feeling better.
So thank you for all the well wishes!!

Well, I blabbed about Emmie for so long I forgot what else to say! Ah how about Cute pics everyone!

CC-Glad Ramses is feeling better! I actually asked for more Novacaine. Don't know if she complied or not though! I hate when your not numb enough and then the drilling starts. Then they give you more novacaine then you sit and wait...I just hate that! So give me a lot and get it done so I can get on with my day! As much as I love me dentist, I do have other things to do then sit an wait on getting a filling filled! LOL!!

Ok, I'm gonna go eat dinner
MLH- do you know if your DH is working the truck or a booth? I can stop by and say HI!!! and glare at him in a funny way for picking the MWHF over your anniversary... We really don't celebrate our anniversary... we have a nice dinner at some time during the week and say happy anniversary... One year we were so broke, we went to a card store and showed each other the cards we would have gotten for each other IF we had had the money.... I think that was the same year I got a major cold or flu... my DH said, "Ahh.. well last year it was (paper or tin) this year is Mucus!!!" I then shared that on a horse forum I am on and got the funny title " slides with mucus" instead of "running with mucus" which was a line from Monty Python the Life of Brian. the "slides" was a horse reference... So we can give your DH the funny name of "Grain Man" a play on words from "Rain Man..."..
Well, I'm in for the Mothers Day Hatchalong! Set something today or tommorow and you can be in too. Come on.... You know you want to! ;) I just set Silkied Ameraucaunas, a gold laced Orpington and a chocolate Orpington. Set last week, but scheduled to hatch the same day as these, are the Australian Spotted Ducks. AND... In 6 days I have the lavender/porcelain orpingtons and gold laced orpingtons due too. I have 42 Eggs in the downstairs Bator, and 5 up here. SERIOUSLY?! I have 47 eggs going right now?! You guys are HORRIBLE influences on me!!!!
BF4Me- have you lost anymore chicks or have any more gotten worse?? SO if it seems I am babbling, I got about 3 hours of sleep last night and its already after 11...ack... :th

Amy I voted too. That is a very nice picture !!!

So Who's julie? She's the one who wants the Tamarack tree right? I've got my eyes on one. I'd like to find some real small ones so they would be easier to transplant but I think I need to go further out into the woods but will take DH with so I don't get suck in the swamp or something. Long walk home and no cell service in the woods !! LOL

I candled my duck eggs that I put in lockdown, yes I know I wasn't suppose to open the bator but I needed to know. I have 30 Runner duck eggs that look promising and one mix breed duck as well.

Bfam4me, I candled the lavender silkie eggs and there are 3 that are developing and the one marked PA which I think she means Paint ? So 4. All the rest were clear.

I've got 6 muscovey eggs developing nicely and 5 call duck eggs.
love.gif
, And 6 of my own Lavender Orpingtons and 6 Black and Lavender Orpingtons I got on the egg swap. And another surprise dozen that I got on my road trip !!!

So I have another 4 or more Lavender Orpington eggs to put in the bator so I guess I can do the Mothers day hatch. Plus I need to put in some mixed breed chickens for my farrier. I will be double stacking I guess. Gosh I hope he gives me a deal on my next farrier visit. That would be nice.

We went to a local bar in Pelican Lake where DH's coworker took him for lunch. Said they had a nice fish fry. Yep it was and only $7.5 for AYCE.
Came home to find one horse, one donkey and one pony out. I think they are squeezing between the wires. Our zapper isn't working Again !!! Although the Belgian is one that keeps getting out and I don't think she is squeezing. We think she is jumping and I'd sure like to see her do it !!! DH said he is getting quit fond of her. It's to the point now he just walks up to her, turns and walks back to the gate and she follows him without a lead rope or halter. Silly girl. She has him trained !!!
