TIKI~ my neighbor had the same problem, turned out to be an ermine (aka weasel) The buggers pop the head first (after the blood) but if they feel threatened they will just pick it up the head and run
.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words about my best friend, it was very sweet and much appreciated. She slipped quietly away and into the arms of God yesterday morning. Funny how getting your hands into the soil or just leaning on the gate and watching your chickens, (probably for the first time in their lives) chase the first real bugs of the season with crazy abandon can be so calming to the soul. Good bye dear friend.
Had a leftover ear of sweetcorn from supper and I couldn't help but smile watching them first cock their heads and stare at it then suddenly tear into it like a pack of wolves on carcass!
Today was better. The weather was perfect and I was able to keep my mind busy with the "hurry up and get it done before the rains come" garden chores. Everything is out of the greenhouse and into the ground. That is except for the peppers and a couple special tomatoes (my "I got the first ripe tomato" braggers
). I always pop a couple bricks out of the floor along the walls and plant these right into the greenhouse.
Hope the rain holds off long enough in the morning for me to give the coop a good housecleaning. Afraid all I've been doing lately is just quick cleanups mostly under the roost. Then I have to get after all the neglected housework, yuch.
I want to be the first to wish everyone a great holiday weekend!!!!!
