I don't mind other topics, just as long as they don't divide the friendships we have here.. I too have my opinion about the Walker situation, but I will not argue, politics or religion.. they are subjects that no two opposing views will never change.. Of course it is not beneath my dignity to get an argument started and then leave..

I did something yesterday that I have not done for 40 years.. Gee, how time flies.. I rode a horse.
Annie asked me if I was going to do it again.. I told her, it depends on how I feel tomorrow..
I stretched muscles I forgot I had.. especially my hips.. I don't remember horses being that wide..

I should dump all of these birds and get a horse.. I always wanted one, but could never justify it.
After feeding all these birds, I think a horse would be less expensive.. or at least cost no more..

I am going to make a couple of wooden covers for my feeders.. those dumb chicks just can't seem to stay out of them and not being able to get out..

Oh and Bigz, while I stopped at McDonalds to get the directions to the Amish guy I took a good look at the harness part I wanted fixed. Sat there in the sun and fooled around with it and I was able to swap the two turrets (sp) with each other and they screwed in niced and tight. Who would have known. That's good so now they won't have to have the leather all torn apart and re sewn.
But I do want to check with the guy to see if he oil's harness's. Do you know if he has a phone?
I'm going back down next Friday to pick up duck food so maybe I'll stop in and have a talk with him.
I want to get to driving my horses so bad right now.

Oh and fyi Jim, I can feed 6 horses (large ones), 3 standard donkeys, 2 ponys and 6 wether goats CHEAPER then all of my chickens and that is 365 days of hay !!!
But if you get one horse you need a companion !!!

Afternoon all!
Just stopping by! Went to Mad City today to the Costco. Almost got ran over in the parking lot by a Mom with a boat load of kids in a Mini Van type vehicle. Good thing I was watching because she clearly was not....
Anyway, seeing that I made it back in one piece, I then had to go down to Janesville to Sears to pay a bill. Had to wait for five cars to finish running their red light just so I could make my left turn on my green left arrow....all the while the car behind me is honking at me....

So I decided to cut my errands short and just come home....I figure I'm much safer with the dogs....The wild Chicks in the brooder are another matter entirely!
They are not happy. I've been changing the chick feed from mash to crumble and they don't like it. They want mash!!!!! I how ever don't want to grind anymore so we are at an impasse. I have a feeling I will loose....
BTB is messing with the ceiling fan control strings. He has already jumped up and caught the string that controls the fan. He turned it off. Now it's only a matter of time before he gets the one that controls the lights....Geez he's wild......Now he's running back and forth trying to get one of the dogs to play with this...He sounds like a herd of horses galloping across the room.....Oops, he just did a Kitty Burn Out and something crashed...

My goats had the worst day of their lives today. And I had to help! I wasn't expecting that. After we were all done the ladie's muscovy ducks came and ate the testicles. Mmmmm. . . . Delicious.

The reason I got back on was to tell you of something pretty cool! Was mowing the road out back and saw the tall grass moving so I stopped and out popped this little chic into the short grass in front of me. Looked like a day old chicken chic. Then mom took off a few feet away it was ruffed grouse baby. Can't member if I've seen one before. Kinda like hiding your own easter eggs.

puppy #2 has left the building.. Brian came and picked his up.. we worked out a barter since he doesn't have a lot of cash laying around..

Once when somebody behind me honked his horn like that, I put my car in park and got out and went and looked at the back of my car real long and hard.. then I asked the guy what was wrong, as I couldn't see anything amiss.. by that time we both missed two green lights.. I didn't mind, but he sure was miffed.. don't honk at old guys,, we have all day..

I planted a pound of pea seeds.. I still have lots more room to plant.. I have the dikes and channels pretty well established. I can run out a half barrel of water without having to move the end of the hose.. next step is to mulch..

gotta go.. someone is here to see the puppies.

Is This Heaven?.... Nope, just Fish Fry Friday...seems like it though.... with all the tasty food!

Don't know about the phone Frenchie....when I get by the neighbors, I'll ask them about that.

Worked all day in the gardens today....more to do, but off to a great start with most of the tilling done. I still need to put up some more fence around the beans and beets and spinach..I hope I have as good results with cranberry beans as last year...they make tasty cowboy beans and soup.

Grandpa's Stuff incubator is coming through for me!!! Should have 3 by morning and then up to 21 by Sunday AM!!!

I wonder what it is like to have 300 eggs at once if this is what 21 feels like!

Evening all!
Since I decided to stay home, I played in the garden. I have been working on a tomato project inspired by Dan's post about string and tomato plants. I had an plan all drawn out on paper for what I wanted to do. I then went to Meynards to get supplies to implement said plan and I had to ask a question about what type of boards would be best for my project. The super nice guy helped me and gave me a better plan! Once the was not so cumbersome to make and one that would store much better in the garage in winter. I will take pics and post them tomorrow.

Other then that I had a nice afternoon tinkering in the garden and playing with chicks....Life is Good....

Ooooo The National History Bee is getting good....gotta go

Taffy has finally gotten to the almost-hatching stage. We have internal pips on the eggs. I think they are a little late, but that could be due to the other babies trying to snuggle under Taffy to get warm; some of her eggs would get cold....

The little duckling with the injured foot is doing much better.

I do not know how cold it was last night, but my tomatoes look just fine so it could not have been too bad. My pineapple plant on the other hand might have been a tad too cold. Time will tell!

Terri O called me today wondering where I was! Aw, my daughter and I have been spending computer time playing the Disney Fairies in Pixie Hollow on-line game. It's so sweet. I have a fairy character and Chlo has a fairy character and we can do stuff together in the game all fairy like. It's just sweet fun and it's been taking up my computer time!

So yesterday I saw someone who resembled Robin (no she wasn't in a wheelchair, she just looked like her!) and I felt a pang. Had such a nice chicken people camping experience, I'm wistful about it! I'm getting mushy on you guys!

Today I let the birds out of their enclosure for a bit. One of the young Andalusians started running around with a worm in her beak. As if she knew she had something really awesome but not sure what to do with her prize. So funny!

The solar chicken on their coop is as bright as a light bulb at night.

Hilarious seeing that little glowing chicken out there.

Nuh Nights! ...I mean if I can get to sleep with the glare of Solar Chicken coming into the windows and everything.
