Storkey is to the point where she no longer want's to be a mommy

The chicks are 7 weeks old but are integrating with the flock well. No one is picking on them, so that's good!

Jasmine is very protective of her kids but she will let George mount her. George is definitely is "head roo"!

Well, other than that, young son (who will be 23 Mon.) ran over one of my mash pans with the truck....but it's still same ol', same ol' here.

Night all!!!

puppy #2 has left the building.. Brian came and picked his up.. we worked out a barter since he doesn't have a lot of cash laying around..

Once when somebody behind me honked his horn like that, I put my car in park and got out and went and looked at the back of my car real long and hard.. then I asked the guy what was wrong, as I couldn't see anything amiss.. by that time we both missed two green lights.. I didn't mind, but he sure was miffed.. don't honk at old guys,, we have all day..

I planted a pound of pea seeds.. I still have lots more room to plant.. I have the dikes and channels pretty well established. I can run out a half barrel of water without having to move the end of the hose.. next step is to mulch..

gotta go.. someone is here to see the puppies.

I made the mistake of showing this to my hubby. He liked it waaaaaaaaaay too much so I guess I know what's going to happen the next time someone honks behind us

ARRRRG! Again this morning found another "misfire" egg below the roost but at least this one had a shell thick enough that I could pick it up so appears things may be getting better, HOWEVER, I found another, very fresh, normal egg on the floor with the end already cracked! Knew something was wrong when they were all standing at the coop door, instead of the chicken door, all looking up at me sooooo innocent!

They are sooooo lucky I am a pacifist but they keep it up and I will turn my hubby loose on them

Wouldn't you know this would happen just as soon as a friend decided she was so thrilled to be getting my extras that she insisted on paying me for them

I also just found a great recipe (just like the one I had lost years ago) for canning pickled eggs. Well, there is going to be the annual swap in Elcho in a couple weeks and I was planning on hopefully picking up another hen then, Anyone have any ideas what would be the best one to get to go with 4 Austrolorp crosses?

Morning all!!
It's a beautiful morning here! Getting ready to feed and water critters then off to load the truck and head to the dump....
Then I'm going to finish my tomato project and clean my flower bed. Some critter decided to eat it's dinner in my nice clean mulch
sickbyc.gif
. Left bloody blobs behind
sickbyc.gif

I might even start to take one my new flower bed project!!...oh and refill bird feeders. The woodpeckers and squirrels are looking at the porch door with a "What Gives?" look!! LOL

Jim-I won't tell DH your story!! I know he'd do the same thing! LOL!! I used to honk when some one was sleeping through a green light...then I moved to Tennessee...that cured me of my impatience. Sleeping through a light is the norm down there.

Marg-Glad to see you again! Was starting to wonder where you got off too!!

Vicki-IMO pretty much anything goes well with Aussie and Aussie crossed. Aussies are very lovely birds. Wyandottes or Opringtons might be a good choice for you. Both breeds will get to a size similar to an Aussie. Although Barred Rocks are awesome too!! Here is my 2 cents and honest opinion (not that you asked! LOL!!)-if you've got egg eaters that is a bad thing. While you may not mind now, they develop a taste for eggs and teach the others how to egg eat. Then you will never get another egg. They are nearly impossible to break of that habit and it's either the crock pot or separating the egg eaters.

Ken-Congrats on the pips!!!

WCc-hope you feel better soon!!!

Well, I'd best finish my cup o' joe and get gone....

You mater comment made me think of the BFF he always gets more rain, snow, it's colder, and hotter than what we get and we live about 7 miles from each other.

But ya gotta luv him! Going to do a bunch of things today and I see the rhubarb is ready for pickin. Should throw some cracked corn in the run and see if I can trap all the hens to see if any of the newbies are layin. I have my suspicions. Looks to be a great day!

That was Elvis right?

Nice cool Morning everyone !!!

Good day to get things done with the cool weather. Unfortuneately they won't all get done........... way to many projects started.

Went for FFF again to our new favorite place (where we got sick last week) For some reason the food wasn't as tasty as last time. Could be because we are both sick and I had just sucked on a zinc lozenge before we went. ???
Now I'm tired of that place already. Time to find a new one or start cooking at home. (and save some money)

DH is still hacking away and I had thought I got away with a mild version of his illness but everyday I feel worse. Sure hope I don't start hacking like him. It's non stop.

Going to clean duck pens today, work on the fence and start cleaning up the yard.

Oh and One more chick hatched today (with my help) out of the 48 eggs. Of course because about 30 of them are spoken for they are taking their sweet old time. About 10 have been pipped since last night. One zipped this morning. The reason I helped was because I wanted to see how the membrane looked since the bator lost power for about 8 hours the other day. It was ok. Chick was ready to come out. All was well. The first chick that hatched the other day sure was glad to have company. Now I will leave my hands out of their. I did increase the humidity a bit as well.

Ok, one more cuppa then the day begins !!! Have a good one everyone.

Hope you feel better soon Wcc. I hate being sick when the weather is nice. Not that it's any better when it's not but at least then you don't feel like you are missing out on so much.

Later

Oh my friends I am finally able to reply! I was in agony (practically) not being able to respond to stuff...I was the "guest" that you were seeing for the past few days. I couldnt sign in because I was on my new computer that got it's hard drive replaced and the new one didnt know any of my passwords!
smack.gif
I could have sworn I knew them but I couldnt get into anything and my email was yet to be set up by the resident computer guru! So at last I have email AND BYC again! My life is complete!

Sorry about all the bad stuff that has been happening to our people! Hopefully the good stuff is balancing it all out. Beautiful day today and I am headed out to buy my pepper plants and the rest of the needed seeds. Bigz I have your dill planted (I found it again!
wee.gif
) and also the Hubbard seeds you gave me last year. I hope I get a few more of those this year cause they were delish! Unfortunately the mice got into my stored seeds in the shed...how they got in a metal drawer is beyond me...so I need to get some cuke and zucchini seeds as well.

I have been trying to catch a critter that ate the medium ducks I put out to no avail! Last night it really messed up a setting duck and ate many of her eggs. She is alove but her head and face are pretty messed up. The trap was set not 5 feet from her too...I am suspecting a raccoon with babies again. BLAST!

OK taking off to Menard's now...enjoy the day! Terri O
